Due to financial problems me & my family have been living on a very small and flimsy house for the past 4 years, which is also kinda far away from everything making our daily commutes to school/work/etc painfully long. But the time has come and we're finally moving to a bigger, nicer house! :D Aside from bigger, it's also closer to our necessities which means we'll spend less time commuting. ;D

I'm getting a big room with a huge closet to store my gaming collection, a significant part of the storage shack for all sorts of electronic junk and there's a possibility for me to build a separate gaming room in the future! I couldn't be happier! ;D

I just wanted to share these great news with you guys, also as a way to inform you that I might disappear from FW for a few days, while the internets get installed at my new place. ;)

A gaming room... I need one of those.

I'm awfully tired of having my entire collection in my room. It's so cluttered in here, and I'd rather use my room just just sleeping and not gaming.

Well anyway, I hope all goes well during the move! Don't somehow lose any important pieces to your collection as you box it all up.

How cool! We moved not too long ago. Must be nice to have a game room--my wife said I can have a corner of the garage...  :-\

Great news! Have fun in your new home! :D

Awesome! Where are you moving to, staying in Santiago?

Cam3ron@FW

Seeya, have fun!

Coincidentally, I might be gone fot as much as 6 months soon, were moving over the summer, and if our house sells fast enough, we have to live in a Motel or our trailer (not as bad of a trailer as your probably thinking) for a month or two.  Then I'm never on in the summer.  I should be back myself September, but I may be gone by March...  Sorry to steal your thread... there should be a general Leaving/Coming back thread anyways :P
Consoles I own (by Generation):

I grew up in PA. Where are you moving to?

Sweet. You have to post pictures of your new gaming setup/collection when you get all of it organized.

Thanks guys! ;D Oh god I'm really exhausted from packing up stuff for the last few days and there's still an awful lot left to do! :o
For one the new house contains exactly zero light fixtures installed so we need to visit the nearest Home Depot to buy a bunch of lamps to install in each room before we start living there, otherwise when the night sets in we'll be in total darkness. 8)

The moving truck will be here on Monday morning so it's a race against the clock! :o

I totally hear ya. My room used to be my gaming collection and my electronics workbench. The clutter really got on my nerves, and it's a real PITA to keep a small cluttered room tidy and organized. Fortunately my new room's got a huge closet (seriously, it spans an entire wall!) and since my wardrobe is relatively small I'm going to use most of it to stash stuff out of sight. :P

Indeed, staying in Santiago but closer to downtown. Currently I live very close to the Andes mountains. Really nice & quiet place with an amazing view but my house is really small and the 1+ hour commutes to work/school/whatever are a real pain.

Most of my collection will be stashed in the closet but I'll show you how my new room turns out. ;)

Finally I'm at my new house! :D It was an awful lot of work and it's not over yet! :o

I'm stealing wireless (yay for WEP!) but the signal is so weak that even with the antenna high up in the ceiling it's barely usable. :(
I'll be back when proper internets get installed here. ;)

Haha, nice. I remember the days of piggybacking in DC and NYC. It was quite fun to sit on the fire escape at my brother's apartment in NYC and struggling to get even the weakest of signals.

Indeed! I remember balancing my laptop on the edge of a balcony at the beach house from last summer's vacations so that I could connect to the access point down below in a small store along the beachside. Fun times. ::)

Since then I bought myself a USB wireless adapter and a ton of USB extension cables. Now I can string as many extension leads as needed to place the antenna in the sweetest spot for reception while I sit down comfortably indoors or whatever. If you have a clear line of sight to the AP you can even place the antenna on a parabolic reflector dish (aka Chinese cookware) for a huge boost in directionality and signal strength! ;D

Right now I've taped the antenna to a broomstick stuck at the highest corner of the ceiling, while I browse in the quiet of my room, in front of my desktop PC. :D

Back to the house thing, there's a gas leak so we can't have hot water until the leak is fixed. I haven't showered since Sunday. Ugh!

MS-DOS4

Just man up and take a cold one!

Cold is gold!

Considering that down here we're in the middle of summer (and it has been a particularly harsh one I tell you) I could very well do it without a hitch. It's just that I've been too busy/tired to take a shower and thus I'm using the gas leak as an excuse ::)

133MHz

Yay! Decent Internets at last! ;D Most of the stuff has been sorted out by now too, and my room is almost ready. :)

Here's something that puzzled me for a while. I carefully wrapped up my game systems in some old newspaper prior to putting them in boxes in order to protect them during shipping. It worked great but when I took them out they had black stains all around them. At first I thought it was due to dirty hands during packaging, but it seems that the black ink from the newspapers leaked somehow and stained my consoles. Lesson learned, I guess. :-[
