Shoot Em' Ups?

I'm not a big fan of nor am I too good at shoot em' up games (shmups), but this game Ikaruga looks both CRAZY and a lot of fun to play. Has anyone played it before and what system was it released on? Link below:

Looks about as intense as Recca.

There's so plenty of those intense "manic shmups" that Ikaruga falls under. Any shmup where enemy fire comes off as a fireworks show is da bomb.

Ikaruga's on Japanese Sega Dreamcast and domestically on Gamecube. If you can't afford Radiant Silvergun, then that's the best alternative ever.
