Anyone else here collect vinyl? I love music and find vinyl to sound better than any other format(analog or digital). Plus records are just so fun to collect; huge artwork, cheap, and obscure. I only recently got into this scene but my collection is growing, unfortunately my bank account is shrinking :D. Anyway here's some pictures:

UglyJoe

"Kick out the jams, motherfucker!".  Man, gotta play that when I get home.

I have a few records, but currently have no way of playing them :(

nintendodork

I'd collect records if I had a record player.  I love it when present-day artists release their new album in both vinyl and CD format.  Looking at the huge vinyl prints are really cool.

Edit* Actually, I forgot I have a sealed Snakes & Arrows album.  I got it since it was a limited release.  I remember I also got Different Stages on CD too that day.
I like to glitch old VHS tapes and turn them into visuals for live music events. Check out what I'm working on - www.instagram.com/tylerisneat

Top Gun on vinyl!!  Get in!

I have the Dragon Quest 2 OST on vinyl, and Thriller and Bad but that's about it.  I want The Terminator OST on vinyl.

Got 3000 Leagues in Search of Mother & Heidi - Portuguese Vinyls, haven't tested but seems all fine, last I saw they're condition.

Not with me atm so no photo.

nensondubois

I have a few records but I never play them since my music needs to be portable.

MC5 rules, underrated when it comes to 60s rock.

I actually think the Top Gun soundtrack isn't great. Kenny Loggins, Berlin, Loverboy, and of course the theme are the only good songs on it, but I got for a dollar so no complaints. I need to get "Bad", as well as "Off The Wall" and "Dangerous". My dad has "Thriller", which is incredible on vinyl.

I agree 100% that vinyl sounds better (though in some cases a poor original master on a vinyl may get trumped by a CD re-master [if no vinyl re-master is pressed]--Megadeth's "Killing is My Business" vs. the newest CD release is one example in my opinion).

I don't have photos of my vinyls off-hand (nearly 1000), but here are the 3 players I have (the Technics plays off my home theater, and the old, portable Newcombs sound surprisingly good).  The last Newcomb pictured is tube powered and Mono.

1000 damn! Very nice, those turntables are sexy too. Is that "Mob Rules" is see peaking in the last picture?

Ha ha, yes it is  ;)  Didn't even notice it found its way into the picture  :P

Haha That album is great, I prefer Dio Sabbath to Ozzy Sabbath.

My avatar may suggest that I also have a preference for the Dio era material.  I've seen him live a couple times as well (once for Dio, and once for Black Sabbath/Heaven and Hell).  Looking at the records you've shown in this thread, I believe we have a fairly similar taste in music  ;)

Sweet vinyl player.

Vinyls and Laserdiscs FTW! lol.

We used to have turntables just like your Newcombs in my elementary school!  super awesome stuff.

Yes, the Newcombs were generally used in schools (yet also built like tanks).  You can see in the photo that my larger, stereo player has "Moorhead Music Dept." engraved on it.  That particular model is fairly rare to find.

I love vinyl.
I started a collection from various albums my parents had, then a couple of years ago i bought my first 45rpm ("Pick of Destiny" by Tenacious D [the b-side was "Kong"])

and i've been collecting mostly new vinyl (like from the 90s onwards)
so far i only have like 20 records (33s & 45s) that i have bought myself, but I'm still collecting.
