I like collecting vinyl too, have a modest collection with some nice stuff on it (Lot's of Beatles, Zep, Purple and prog rock records from all eras). But my focus is my Boris (a band from Japan) collection, I have around 50 itens from them and they are all great looking stuff.

My last purchases were a Record from Seru Giran (proggish rock/pop from Argentina) and The Sentinel by Pallas (Neo-Progressive).

50 Boris records?!? I'd love to see some photos, I'm a big fan of "Pink" in particular.

50 itens actually, only 34 are Vinyl. I'll get some pics when I can!

Bumping this so everyone here can see this...some of you will appreciate it.

(My old record player)

I received a record player about a year ago and it was all downhill from there. I have a small but slowly growing collection of emo/screamo/punk/post-rock/electronic music. Somewhere around 30 12"s and 30 7"s. And a 10"! I'm getting records I really want to listen to, though, instead of just collecting stuff for the sake of it.

It's a lot of fun. Nothing like getting those big square packages in the mail.

I hear you. ;D

What are some of your favorite albums you have on vinyl? My most prized are my two copies of Between the Buried and Me's Colors. The reason I have two is because one is green (which I plan to keep), and one is red (which I eventually plan to sell since less than 150 were released).  Another one of my favorite records is the very first one I got, Deadmau5's Some Chords 12'' single.
I like to glitch old VHS tapes and turn them into visuals for live music events. Check out what I'm working on - www.instagram.com/tylerisneat

Well some of my favorite albums I have are Rush's "A Farewell To Kings", Crosby Stills & Nash's debut, Dream Theater's "Scenes From A Memory", and Wolves In The Throne Room's "Diadem of 12 Stars".

But my favorite records in my collection are quite different, those would be Cui Jian "Nothing To My Name"(extremely rare outside of China), Type O Negative's "None More Negative"(12xLP box set), Burning Witch's 4xLP and DVD box set, and Summoning's "Sounds Of Middle Earth"(5xpicLP box set).

Is Summoninng's SoME set instrumental, or vocal? I wish that Blind Guardian would offer some albums on vinyl, as that would be quite delicious.  :bomb:

I'd say my most treasured records are Raein's "Il n'y a pas de orchestre" 12" and Raein/Daitro's Split 10". They're special because of a mixture of me loving the music and their rarity.

Other than those two, I own/love American Football's LP and EP on vinyl, and Loma Prieta's "Last City", and Oval's "Ovalcommers"...there's so many more but I'll stop for now.

Most of Summoning's stuff has vocals, black metal shrieks mainly haha. Yeah I know what you mean, I've been looking for a copy of the picture disc of "Nightfall In Middle Earth" for years.  :(

Aye. The problem is that I'd have major issues placing that on any turntable. I want standard releases, or even UHQRs of their albums, although I prefer the recorded sets versus the live sets.

By the way, there is also a Japan-only version of that album.  8)

I would buy every BG album on vinyl, probably in triplicate, just to have them all until the end of time. The same goes for 'Nightwish' and 'Inkubus Sukkubus'...  :bomb:

You mean a Japan only vinyl version? As far as I'm aware the only release of "Nightfall" on vinyl is the 1998 German picture disc.

Just found close to 400+ 1920s era records in an abandoned homes attic. No idea what this stuff is, ancient music. Any of this worth something? they all are single Vinyls in brittle as hell old-ass musty paper sleeves...all are Victor RCA records, I dont even know if they are vinyl they are soooooo old and forgotten....much thicker vinyl then your typical 70s-80s era vinyl record...

son_ov_hades

Records that old might not even be vinyl, they're probably shellac. What size are they? I'd guess 10". They probably also play at 78 rpm which most newer turntables won't even play. Regardless that's a pretty amazing find and I'd love to see some pictures.

manuel

I'm also guessing they're shellac.
