Did anyone else go to record store day today? It's always such a blast for me waiting on line for hours in the morning and talking with other record nerds. I scored some pretty sweet records as well.

Algo Fonix

I wish I could. There's just so much to do today.

I hope I can head out tomorrow and still find something.

son_ov_hades

I don't if you'll find a whole lot  :(. That said, there were a few releases that I actually passed on this morning that seemed like they weren't going anywhere. One of which was a Sara Bareilles 7", I have no idea who she is but she looked so gorgeous on the cover...

nintendodork

I totally would have if prom wasn't today. Fuck school dances! :P
I like to glitch old VHS tapes and turn them into visuals for live music events. Check out what I'm working on - www.instagram.com/tylerisneat

Priorities man, priorities. Obsessively collecting nerdy things such a records>getting with women.  :P

Just got my Smashing Pumpkins flexidisc!  Can't wait to get my turntable back from the repair shop.

I have a giant collection of Vinyl if anyone is looking for something in particular. Lots of 80s punk, early 90s grunge, some rare surf records like Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet (Kids in the Hall theme), and early 2000s Rock and Folk. I also have a few Metal releases, but I'm not such a big fan of that genre.

Looks awesome! Too bad flexis generally sound like shit and wear out very quickly, still a really nice find.

If you've got a list of records for sale I'll gladly take a look.  ;D The only things that I'm desperately searching for are Dream Theater's first three albums and Wolves In The Throne Room's "Two Hunters". But I'd likely be interested in something...

I don't have any of those, but I'll see if I can type out a list in the coming days. Are you into pirates or just originals? As for 1st editions, I have a good amount of Ween 1st pressings that seem to be quite rare.

son_ov_hades

I'm not much into bootleg pressings, unless they're of something not officially released(demos, live shows, etc.). But yeah I'll eagerly await that list.  :)

Oh yeah ;D

Finally picked up the turntable from the repair shop.  They spent months trying to get a stylus for it, but couldn't get one, so my wife and I decided to just pick it up and look for the stylus ourselves.

We got the turntable from my father in law, and he did have a stylus for it, but it was pretty worn.  I popped in the old stylus anyway, went to the thrift store to get some cheap vinyl (mostly classic rock and big band), and tried it out.  It's working!  I searched for a new stylus on eBay and found one for like $5, so I'm not sure what the deal with the repair shop was.  No big deal, though, it's just nice to have it finally working.

Looks like Square will be releasing a vinyl for Final Fantasy:

Any FF fans?

JohnnyBlaze

Somewhat. I really only listen to vinyls. I don't have any CD's. All my music is either MP3 or vinyl. My friends joke that if it isn't on vinyl, I don't listen to it. I do have some interesting ones in my collection of over 150, but my iPad is being used at the moment, so I'll take some pics later.

A few items of note are:

-The Motels - Apocalypso. Orange vinyl. Apparently, only 1,500 were made of that particular color
-Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here. Anniversary edition with black outer plastic cover.
-Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon. 30th Anniversary Edition

My vinyls run the gamut from classic rock, to country, to pop. From Kiss to Katy Perry.

One piece of advice. If anyone lives in Jersey or New York and collect vinyl, check out Princeton Record Exchange. They have a warehouse FULL of vinyl and even carry NEW vinyl releases(yes they are still making them). You can walk in there with $200 and walk out with two full big bags FILLED with LP's!

Yes, fucking yes! I went to The College Of New Jersey, only 15 minutes away from Princeton and I was there all the time. Other people spent what little they had on beer, I spent mine on records.  ;D

Oh yeah ;D

I have that record too, I love Men At Work!

I recently scored a 19LP boxset of Richard Wagner's "Der Ring Des Nibelungen", needless to say it might be the most epic thing ever. I've recently thought about getting rid of my video game collection to help fund my ever expanding record collection.  :-[ Last count was over 500, shit's getting expensive haha.

JohnnyBlaze

I agree, especially for the more popular ones. My general rule of thumb is that I usually wait for the 180gram re-release. Just like I did for the Derek and the Dominoes LP. It generally goes for $20 used, but I waited and got the 180g for $27. Same with ANY Pink Floyd or Beatles LP's. Although I NEED to see if I can get a repro "Butcher Cover". $400 for a legit one is too rich for my blood...
