The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

Started playing but after a while I got bored with those cartoon graphics, the Zelda game I really want to play is Twilight Princess.

I have played & beaten:

-Legend of Zelda
-Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
-Zelda: A Link to the Past
-Zelda: Ocarina of Time

These are the 4 I have played and beaten.  Zelda II is by far my favorite--the SNES and N64 games didn't excite me much at all (had I played the SNES game as a kid, I probably would have liked it).

Never could get into the first two games - I think you had to be there - but I enjoy some of the rest. I think the only one I still own that I've beaten is Twilight Princess, but I've also beaten:

Link's Awakening
A Link to the Past
Ocarina of Time
Majora's Mask
and maybe Phantom Hourglass... Don't quite remember, I may have gotten bored on the last dungeon and moved on.

I also have Wind Waker, which I loved up until the point at the end of the game where it makes you go all around the damn map fishing for random crap just to make the game longer, which is the worst piece of game design I've ever seen in a Zelda game (including Spirit Tracks, which I'll get to in a sec). I quit and never looked back. Whatever, I'd basically beat the game at that point anyway.
I used to have Four Swords Adventure, which was fun, but it didn't play much like a traditional Zelda game so when I broke up with my ex, who was the big fan of it, I got rid of it.
At one point I had one of the Oracle games, but to be honest I didn't like it at all. The level design was confusing and the dual world bit was terrible, especially when compared to LttP.
I absolutely loathed the second DS game and gave up almost immediately. Is that Spirit Tracks? I hate babysitting games so much. I just want to play the game, don't make me mess around trying to control a second character at the same time. At least it's better than Resident Evil 4, which ruined a perfectly good game by chaining you to an obnoxious uncontrollable dead weight with freaky monkey ears. I will never understand why a game with a central mechanic designed PURELY TO FRUSTRATE THE PLAYER was and remains so popular.

But I've gotten way off track. Basically I like Zelda games but I wish when they tried to deviate from the typical design of the series they'd do so in a way that focused on gameplay first.

The Legend of Zelda
The Legend of Zelda 2
Ocarina of Time
Twilight Princess

I have to say Zelda 2 is quickly becoming my favorite. I still love Ocarina of Time a bit more, but Zelda 2 just has a charm about it that the other games don't.

I have only ever beaten Ocarina of Time and Link's Awakening... because those are the only 2 of the entire series I actually like.

Major Zelda fan here. I've beaten and own:

The Legend of Zelda (FDS, NES) (first quest only)
Zelda II (VC)
A Link to the Past (VC)
Link's Awakening
Ocarina of Time
Majora's Mask
Wind Waker
Twilight Princess (Wii)

While the Oracles are apparently very good games, I never really had the time or motivation to give them a legitimate try. I haven't actually tried the Four Swords series or recent handheld releases, but I'm fairly (perhaps inaccurately?) convinced I would hate all of them.

I agree. It's not my favourite Zelda game, but Zelda II just has the aura of being an unappreciated and yet awesome game about it.

I think Phantom Hourglass at least is worth a try. The Four Swords series and Spirit Tracks don't play that much like normal Zelda games (in my opinion), but Phantom Hourglass is sort of like a combination of Wind Waker and Link's Awakening, only shorter and not as impressive as those games.

My first zelda game that I played and beat was Ocarina of Time. I later played and beat Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, 4 swords adventures, and Twilight Princess. I played zelda 1, 2, and 3, but didn't beat them.... yet, I plan to when my friends and I celebrate the 25th anniversary of the legend of zelda  ;D
