So,
My friend from Canada just sent me two weeks ago an NES reproduction of Recca.  Has a sweet looking label with a guy standing in front of fire and the cart is gray.  I had never played Recca and now I own it for my NTSC NES.  Very nice addition to my collection.  Looking around I have read that the actual Famicom cart is very expensive.  Makes me wonder what this would sell for?  Either way....Recca is a great game, but I can not seem to find out how to beat the Boss fight with the dangling lazer tenticals?  Any suggestions?  Maybe you have beaten it?

Thanks guys,

Chris

There are members that have beaten that game in this forum for sure. If it's a repro, it could be worth around 20-25 since you can buy it for that price at the nes reproduction sites. Hope that helps.

Is the boss you're speaking of the first miniboss? Him you have to use the shield to beat; stop shooting for a while and a shield will form in front of you that will block most bullets. That'll protect you from his otherwise unavoidable barrage. Then when he stops you'll have a nice powered-up shot to hit him with.

Great game. Just got outbid on a multicart with it, Yu Yu Hakusho, and some Megaman game (claimed to be "Megaman Xtreme", I think) on eBay. If I had more money I might've kept bidding. I think it was called "Sunmer Carnival" on the label, haha.

I was going to bid on that multicart, but I decided to ask the seller. Turns out It wasn't actually Summer Carnival Recca.

Ah, you're smarter than I am, Mr. DOS. I'll have to remember to do that from now on. Hope the guy who outbid me isn't too disappointed.

Pirate labels are full of lies... You've got to watch yourself.

No telling what you get on a pirate just by looking at the pic, unless it lists the games by number..even then you never know....?

I love how accurate pirate listing tend to be.

BATMAN MASSACRE 48Y

or Ice Climber, if you prefer.

tankexmortis

Holy crap, now that's a pirate I'd like to own. It's from a multicart I presume? Are the rest of the games that ridiculously misnamed?

satoshi_matrix

Yes, its from a hilarious 150 in 1 multicart, which only has about 15 games.

others:

CIA HAND BJ2

MARIO JUMPING

I'll have to bust it out to remember others.

I'd like to see the cover so I can recognize it (or something that might possibly be it) in the future. Sounds like one to have.

I bought a cartridge like that from somebody here. A few "gems" in the menu:

"EXTREME WORK"
"LODE APPEAL"
"POWER BURGER"
"LINK MAN PRO"
"HUFF CREW" (huffing paint?)
"Margarine Crew" (I can't believe it's not butter!)
"Funcy Circus"
"Delusion Time"
"Mark Milk"
"Nuts Marionete" (Ouch!)
"Day Dream Work"
"Ambush Burger"
"Bubble Bible"

Since this has strayed from Recca,  I just picked up a honey bee famicom converter and two yelowish famicom colored carts..they both have the same pic and looks like super mario lands cover for gameboy.  One says "Grand Dad 3M and the other says nothing..." but they both have printed numbers on them unerneath some japanese stuff....Grand dad says VII and the other is IV?

Any idea what these games are...they look to be official famicom, but clearly not...

Grand Dad VII should be the Flinstones 2 sprite that replaces Fred with Mario. Not sure about the others.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOIdoUp-YEs
