"Like" buttons and such are really more suited to comment systems.  I don't think I've ever seen a forum rating system used in any useful way.

Electronics/repair forums almost always use a points system to value and encourage user contribution and discourage newbies from asking questions and then never read the answers.

Shoryuken.com used to have a reputation system but it quickly got abused.  All in all, it just promoted bullying and belittling of new members.
Then again, it's a fighting game forum, it's bound to be that way in some form or another.

I think the post count on FW has a similar function anyway.

i dont mean like the post count, i mean like you can like a specific comment rather than having a point system...yeah i know it would be too much like facebook so you can hold your breath on telling me that
