I wouldn't import. I won't get it when it first comes out either unless I win a lottery or something. I will have one because of how it boggles my mind as a math/science student.

Really?  The technology is simple and very effective, it's nothing new - it's just only affordable on small screens at the moment.  It's been on Japanese cell/mobile phones for a while now.  I have a feeling they outsource the screens from one of those companies anyway.

Please pre-order if you hope to get one, they will be sold out for a month at least.  I've pre-ordered two.

The entire concept of what the 3DS does is new to me. 3D without glasses, pretty cool. If it does exist on a japanese cell phone, I have no idea.

Also, I was wrong.  They are here and are like retail units too, but better.  Fully unlocked and region free, but with different coloured casing that doesn't look as nice etc.

Meh, the games were kinda crappy (they shown), except DoA which was pretty good.

Ridge Racer 3DS seemed inferior to the PSP version.

It's still early to say if it's worth it or not, I don't care about 3D but about the gaming experience.

I would buy it simply for Super SF4, heck I'm buying two but I think it's sensible to wait as well. 
Don't buy it for 3D, but the 3D isn't really a feature or gimmick like it was with Wii (motion control).  Even most of the launch titles are treating 3D like a bonus, not something to base the design on.

Well, I hope games aren't specifically designed for 3d, or else they might turn out like the trashy party games on the wii. Still, can't wait to see it. Can't shell out 300 right now, but at least I can play store demos!

i saw a video on bobshouseofvideogames.com and the graphics look really nice for it, almost up to par with the PSP or modern consoles

What I saw was in all cases better than PSP and in some cases as good as gamecube.  Think Smash Bros (Brawl) quality visuals in some cases.

If games look like DS games or better, I'm OK.
