Is it possible to add to the smilies users can choose from?

Just wonderin' ::)

UglyJoe

What did you have in mind?

jpx72

Me thinks he thinks more smilies to choose from
This one would be fun

MS-DOS4

Classic SA smiles would be neat.

I'm not too keen on stealing an exclusive set from another forum (although SA does have some great ones...).

But it could make smileys more popular if some great ones are added.

I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing ;D

Jedi Master Baiter

I was thinking of video game-related ones.

Or something custom Famicom, like Disk-kun!

I also have this 'Upset' Roll Eyes:

:yoshi: and  :mspacman: and  :blinky: and  :gamer: and :upsetroll: added.

I'll try and make a smaller Disk-kun icon. :diskkun:

And can you believe there's a whole set of Dizzy smilies?

jpx72

Hmm don't know if I will ever use a Yoshi smiley... As a matter of fact, those first three and the disk kun are not really smileys, they don't represent any feeling or face expression. I use smileys to add a expression to my sentences, I love the  smiley, because I often feel like that :D so I'm still for this one

I propose one more:

But maybe it should be reversed? That way they're facing different directions?

Xious

Here you go: Ripped mostly fro sprite sheets, plus some others from freeware sites. Some are possibly pretty useful (like the 'Help' fortress), and others could be used to cool effect. Obviously, i don't expect anybody to add all of them. :) It's just a set of suggestions for anybody to play with. You can also just copy the links to use them if you want; I hope they all cycle at the correct rate...

Thanks, Xious, I'll add a handful of them.  Some of them are too tall, unfortunately.  If you go much taller than 25px, the lines in post start to get spaced awkwardly.  I almost want to make an exception for that Dalek, though ;)

Added :bomb: :cherry: :coin: :mario: :octorok: :pacman: :pow: :star:.
Also added :help:, even though it's too tall.

Xious

Thanks dude!

I think that the castle will usually end up towards the end of a post anyway, so it's not as big of a deal-breaker. I actually axed a lot of my original selection due to size; I wasn't sure what you wanted for limitations there.

I'll see about resizing some of them, including our friendly galactic Dalek and the animated Links and Wario. I was hoping for the Doctor (#4-Tom Baker) giving a thumbs-up too, so I'll see what it looks like smaller. I'm hoping to avoid having to remake it as pixel-art....  :bomb:

:mario: The new emotes are awesome!

Xious

For some reason, Mario isn't walking.. All of the other gif-anims that I posted and were added work flawlessly, but the Mario emoticon is standing still... Any ideas on what happened to cause this?

Lastly, would it be possible to add one of the question-blocks? I think that could be very helpful, and might be better than the  ??? that's presently in use, as it's easier to notice.  :bomb:

I'll look about for more, and much about with the resizing as time allows. my dual-G5 graphics workstation is at present not set up anywhere: A problem that I intend to rectify soonishly. once that happens, I'll also gladly take requests for custom graphics, including emoticons and pixel art.
