How many Pocahontas pirates are there ? .... according to my knoledge they were not released officially on famicom.... Are they ports of other systems ? or just hacks of other games ?

I'm pretty sure there's two (that I'm aware of, at least): one by Hosenkan Electronics (which I think is the one MasterDisk is referring to) and the other by Super Game.

Agree, here are some screenshots for example of the Hosenkan (NT-6001) one which is kinda funny cuz it has "Pocohontos" written everywhere in the game, copyrights? What do you think?

One more interesting thing about copyrights - the splash screen appears ONLY for like millisecond after booting the game up :

Now, what about that other one, "Pocahontas 2" by Super Game, maybe someone from The Brotherhood here has it ? :-)

I doubt it. I do remember the name being spelt right at some point in the game, so I think it's just Hosenkan's inability to write up basic English. (This is especially prevalent in their Toy Story port)

So those are pictures for unliscenced original or port or .... ?

Pirate companies make alot of stuff for Famicom, but I assume its a port.

I'm pretty sure it's based off the Mega Drive game, although I never really played that one myself. Same could be said for Super Game's version.

Not sure if the pirate is based on the MegaDrive/Genesis version, though I know for sure that it is based on the Game Boy version judging from the pictures.

Scored a Pocahontas cart from Thailand. Been wanting one of these for awhile, not an easy cart to find at all. It's a colorized Game Boy hack that has been minimized for some reason, but includes lots of Enrgrish. The GB version includes many more animations and quite frankly the famicom version leaves you stumped in the areas in which these "explanation/tutorial" scenes occur.
Never the less, the famicom hack has MUCH better coloring than the GB version has when played on a super GameBoy.
What I have coming appears to be the "Pocohontos" version. :)

How many folks here own this pirate? I suppose it was an oddball release.

Thanks in advance
I don't buy, sell or trade at moment.
But my question is how hackers at that time were able to hack those games?(c)krzy

MasterDisk

It's not that rare as it was released twice (your's is Hosenkan Electronics release, second is by NT),  It was made Ei-How Yang team, the same that made Super Donkey Kong (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MojgZQ7G_aQ)

The 2nd game is by SuperGame and is named right (Pocahontas)

Cool info, it seems that the SuperGame release is a Genesis port. That's probably the one to own.

I've got the famicom version..  It's not very fun.
