There always was a fee for gift money, only the sender of the "gift" can decide who will pay it.

Oh, have you got your money on the paypal account or paypal withdrawed that money from your card? Because my paypal balance is always 0.00 and at every transaction the money is withdrawed from my bank account.

I noticed a couple months ago that paypal started charging a fee for gifts. I'm not sure when it happened, but I bet it was changed due to abuse. Someone needs to start a new service with transfer rates around half of what paypal charges.  :coin:

There have been other services. PayPal became a monopoly when eBay purchased them and started forcing sellers to accept PayPal and use it as an exclusive service. My merchant bank charges lower fees, imposes no limits, and deposits transacted amounts on the next business day...

With PP, it usually takes a week to see the money with a premium business account because in addition to all their fees they float all transactions offshore to bank interest. On top of all that, PP isn't a bank, so they aren't  bound by any banking laws and can freely do whatever they please. They can also grandfather their rules whenever they choose and suck funds from your account at any time.

This is why I've never linked a card to my PP account: Only a checking account. Further, that account is stand-alone, not linked to my other accounts and is only used for PayPal. They're evil, and frankly a good candidate for an anti-trust suit (along with eBay). As soon as eBay stopped permitting sellers to accept cheques or money orders, I knew which way the wind would blow... :bomb:

P.S. PP always charged for non-USA/'International' Gift Payments, but not gor USA-based 'Gift' transactions.
