As I said, I was fiddling around with it, by which I mean that the cap was loose on one end and I put in on the pin manually, then removed it back and forth, to see if I could see the difference in white bars. Hope you understand.

This is why you don't mess around with loose wires when something is powered on. In the future, solder it on first, then unsolder and solder again. It's more tedious but it's far less risky than fiddling around with loose connections.
