Famicom-brand Radio

So I tried out my Famicom yesterday on a US TV. On channel 95, the picture comes in fine, but the game's audio is overcome by static. On channel 96, the picture is severely distorted, and instead of game audio, I get my local radio station, 97.5. I'm wondering why its getting these signals if it's supposed to be tuned to 96, and why its getting them at all.  :link:
