It was... but only on disk. So what's significant about this is that it's one of those FDS to cart conversions, however it comes with a really snazzy box and manual.

This must be a reproduction, no s*it, I can make the same thing ;D

Is it a reproduction or something then? I doubt pirates would go to that much effort. :P

Yeah it was made by a guy in Japan, not mass produced a-la most pirate carts you see in Asia.

I got a like-new famicom yesterday...  :D (I know it isn't 100% mint perfect, but I really don't care. I think people who only want 100% perfect shouldn't collect old stuff...)

Selling  Japanese games in Sweden since 2011 (as "japanspel").

That Castlevania cart is just a pirate that someone de-shelled, put in a Konami style shell, or did this guy figure out how to reproduce FDS titles to cart?

Really top notch work, I had a few FDS ports like that at one point in time..

Stupid expensive though......

Quotegold Pooyan
PCB's photo requested

I request them too! I'll crack her open as soon as it arrives. One thing that grabs my attention is the offset printing of the colors on the front label, I'd think that a pirate would be using a scan and not individual printing plates per color. However, the back of the cart has no indentation for the back label, nor does the back label have the Family Computer text followed by a number on the bottom. We can't compare the crispness being that one is a scan and the other is not.

A standard Pooyan cart weighs 1.6Oz/0.5kg.

I'm sure I overpaid for this one, but I love Pooyan so much that I'm OK with the probable pirate status. Auction stated that it was 100% authentic. We'll see...
I can't find any info when searching in Japanese text for "gold pooyan famicom".

The cart is coming from a seller in Japan.

Edit:
The top is a high res scan of an original cart, the bottom is the gold auction photo. While it's not fair to compare a scan to an auction photo, I think many details still stand out.
Strongly leaning towards pirate, but being printed offset I can't really nit-pick about the blurred fine details. The gold cart has much thicker black lines all around. Kind of cool how the gold cart has a black border around the English Pooyan text with the hanging wolf, while the retail cart has none. The worm in the tree also has less shaped body lines and a less curved smile. Can't really compare labels up close until I can scan the gold cart, but by that time we can can compare PCBs too.  A fun lil' purchase.
In the worst case scenario, there's no shame in a cool pirate. :)

Its just a pirate cart of Pooyan. There was never a "Gold Edition" and if there was it would be gold chrome like every other gold Famicom cart, not that dull-piratey gold. The label is also WAYYYY to crooked for a Famicom label. I mean dont get me wrong every so often a label can be SLIGHTLY (emphasis on slightly) crooked, that label is super off centered! As well as the back label being a total fake (It has square corners, all official carts are rounded corners, as well as the info already stated above)...I can also see what looks like the top seams of the two shell halves do not line up perfectly....typical pirate cart. Hope you did not overpay too much....

EDIT: and as far as the front label, they do not always use scans and can easily make high quality printed labels, so I wouldnt even consider this a contributing factor to if its real or not, judging by the differences, they tried to make an exact copy but its not 100% exact.  They probably started off with everything having a black border (Why Pooyan in English has a border on this pirate) so that way they would know where to place the color correctly when it came to add the color to the labels..

Yeah, you're completely correct. It was one of those "Buy it Now" auctions, and at first glance the cart shell and label looked correct, but the back of the cart was fishy. However, I saw that the hand-writing on the back label was Japanese Hiragana and thus was originally owned by a Japanese person. I took the plunge(Belly-Flop) at about $45 shipped, considering that I can't really ask this board, "Hey, is this rare?" without someone buying it up fast if it indeed was. What if it was a gold plated Rockman 4 cart, and I had asked about it? One thing's for sure is that it wouldn't be in my possession after posting about it.

I still think it's a wonderful pirate to add to my collection, and I admit that I took a quick gamble and lost. Since At first the front label looked original to me, I would have lost sleep had I not taken the chance if it was something special. You win some and you lose some.  :)

Ah, You bought it from the jackass that charges $90.00 for Disk System pirates......Id ask for a portion of the money returned (You paid about 10x what this cart is actually worth), link him to this thread, and threaten to report him for selling bootleg items as originals.

I also love how he has best offer options, but he only ever responds with 0.10 to 0.50 cents off, yeah, thanks asshole. Hes one of my most hated ePay sellers.
