My recent purchases all arrived this week (click for larger versions):

The Zelda no Densetsu is the sealed one I bought on eBay last week. The Twin Famicom, I bought from a private seller on another forum. There's a tiny bit of wear on the top left hand side of the case (looks almost like an abrasion of some sort?) but is in otherwise cracking condition. I was astonished to find that the disc drive actually works  ;D I think it was a real bargain, not least because you practically never see these machines on sale in the UK. That's one advantage to this whole financial crisis thing - lots of people are skint and selling their good stuff cheap :)

The Mario 3 came with the Twin Fami and it still the best game ever  :)

This is what I got hold of today..

Cool. I can tell the first one and the last 2 are baseball games, but what are the other two? Is that a Pachinko game?

Tjibynn

Yes, the other 2 games are Meijinsen & pachinko..

A couple more things turned up yesterday:

I don't remember Salamander being SO BLOODY DIFFICULT :o

Interesting. So the pachinko game works with the specialized controller (by Coconuts Japan or something)?

/\  Perhaps it is just how the image was captured, but your Kaettekita Mario Bros. looks less glossy and more like a computer print out than mine.  Is it just the photo, or is it different?  And I suppose this game could have been written on any disk perhaps, so the number code may be insignificant.

djdac

Its the pic quality. The label is glossy, for sure not printed from a computer. Looks just like the one you posted.

/\  How much did you pay for it?  I was considering selling mine and wanted to get a rough idea of value if I did.  JC gave me some help with that in the price check thread.

djdac

Paid $20, might got for more.

I just got 4 of the filthiest games I've ever seen and spent a little while cleaning them up (though unfortunately someone put tape on SF2 that I didn't want to remove for fear of ripping the label off).  Though they all work, and that is all that I as hoping for out of these.

I tried Recca for a minute and can instantly say it is amazing.

SMB4 is rather cool (I like the weird label art too).   It would be interesting to know what it is worth as a SMB2J cart is worth a fair amount on its own, and this game is SMB2J, but when you get a mushroom you turn into SMB3 mario and when you get a star, you don't become invincible--instead, for the duration of the stage, you can swim in mid-air as if it were a water level (the regular star music plays during this).  There are some other graphic changes, but I didn't play past the first few levels to know everything about it, nor did I get a fire flower to see what that looks like or does.

The Street Fighter games are fairly different from each other, but SF2 actually tries to look like the arcade game and has the same intro.

Awesome finds! I've never heard of such a crazy Mario hack before! :o

The 'window things' are EPROMs, reprogrammable chips. You can erase them by exposing their windows to UV light, like the Sun. Most of them come with a piece of sticky tape over the window to avoid accidental erasure. Also, those are very old EPROMs.

The 'two-tone cart' was probably caused by a price tag or some other kind of label partially obscuring one section of the plastic. The rest of the cart yellowed due to being exposed to the Sun, while the covered part did not.

Hmm...that is an interesting Mario hack that I've never heard of. There's the Merio version of SMB, with swimming in any level, and I have the same Mario cart and label you've got, but mine has a Chip N Dales Mario hack on the board.

BTW -- what's the title screen look like?

/\  Here are some shots.  I also discovered now that you have fire power as regular big mario.  And the fire flower seems to just change the suit color (though the color change didn't happen until I progressed to the next level).  Last two shots are swimming with the star power (you can break through bricks by swimming up through them).
