Hiya!!!

Since I got my famicom from 80sFreak my dream was to use it with my 14" Sony Trinitron tv... but since I an in a PAL country ntsc-composite in my crt tv set either display as black/white or not at all (no probs with modern lcd tv that I am forced to use now)
So I went to eBay , ordered a pal<->ntsc converter and waited to receive it so I can finally enjoy the famicom the way it was meant to be played  ;D

Yesterday I received the converter, hooked it up and..... just look at a video I took with my phone:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMh2WFMFGrw
the converted produces great picture quality but only updates 1 frame per 2-3 seconds!  :'( totally useless for gaming and I have a hard time imagining how one could watch a movie with it... maybe a slideshow if the pictures stay more than 3secs  :P

I have contacted the seller and waiting their technician's response tomorrow  but in the meantime has anyone used a similar device they can recommend me to purchase? Playing on a 37" lcd is fine but it can't beat the feeling you get from a crt tv...  :-*

Thanks in advance for any recommendations/help!  :)

I'm using the MayFlash's NTSC to PAL converter and it works flawlessy. It is designed to be used with games systems so there's little to no input lag. The only problem is that colors are a bit moved to the left but most people do not notice it.

But keep in mind your TV must support PAL 60Hz

thanks for the info MasterDisk! My tv supports pal60 just fine, it even supports ntsc sync through rgb , so a ntsc console with an rgb connection works... but when it comes to ntsc composite/svhs it does not support the color information...
if it's not a big trouble, can you post a photo of that "colors moved to left" that you mention?

You can see some blue going out of the blue eye on the left. On that same eye, there's a white line on the right of the eye. It proves the color moved a bit on the left.

But it is only easy to see when you read colored text or when you see a static picture (like shown above)

Yes I see what you mean, I think I can live with that  :-[
Thanks for taking the picture MasterDisk , it really helped me deciding what to get! I am waiting to see what the seller replies back, they checked with the manufacturer and they wanted to make sure my "game system" was not malfunctioning... I sent them another video with the famicom working fine on an lcd tv and then connected via the converter on the same tv...it will be interesting to see what they decide  ???

the converter just arrived... sadly it's not working correctly  :'(

here is a trinitron crt video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbsYBjzZCMI
and here is on my lcd screen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2JJ4Rpuc2I

needless to say the famicom works fine without the converter on the lcd  :'(

So odd, works perfectly for me with an AV Famicom

What FC system do you use, a clone?

Ok I just saw you used a classic Famicom.

Maybe the AV mod is bad and create interference which the converter does not like..?
