Fixing the audio problem on the AV Famicom and later released original Famicoms

Sorry for digging up an old thread but did you ever come to a conclusion to the cause of the lower audio? Or the incorrectly mixed levels so to say?
I'd love to know. And is there a newer audio kit with stereo separation out there now? I guess a lot has happened since that link (above) to the japanese store.
