I got an FDS today in the mail, I have owned an NES-101 for a long time, actually got one in 1994 I do believe. Now I have an unopened Super Mario Bros 2 disk, which I opened and plugged the RAM adapter into my NES using a Famicom to NES converter.

Now here's my problem, I can't seem to find info, the picture is very snowy, is this an effect of the FDS interacting with the NES, since I have two other Famicom carts that don't make any snow at all. There are times where the sprites of Mario's face blink with the color of the sky. Has anyone else heard of this? Thanks for your reply.

Posting pictures usually helps people have a better understanding of what exactly you mean.

If your top loader is still running through RF you may want to mod for AV, sounds like the RAM adapter could be generating interference.

MisterSG1

Yeah I'm using an RF switch, so how exactly do you get it modded to use RCA cables?

Are you sure the interference is by the RF alone, could it possibly mean my RAM adapter is weak?

I think your RAM adapter connectorpins needs a good cleaning. Try that first.

And how do i do that? Sorry about that, but in all my years of owning this top loader, I have never cleaned anything. The Famicom Disk System I got came in the original box with the adapter and everything, there was no dust on the inside as far as I know.

Do you people get a perfectly clear picture running a FDS on a NES-101?

Clean the contacts on the RAM adapter with a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol.

I did when I still owned mine.

I clean contacts with an elastic band (just rub).  It's not dust you're cleaning it's a buildip of crud.
