Did I buy a pirate cart by accident?

I just learned that Dr. Mario's cart is supposed to look like this:

I bought a copy that looks like this:

Is there ANY chance that this is natural label fade or did this seller just rip me off? Unfortunately I'm guessing its the former and not the latter.

Frank_fjs

I'm no expert on pirate carts but aside from the faded/miss-coloured label it looks legit to me.

Does it have screw holes on the back or on the front, underneath the sticker label?

If it's not a pirate, it's possible that someone tried to clean the label and 'washed' away the colour, maybe?

Looks faded. It's a $2 cart anyway, just wonder, how much you paid for it?
I don't buy, sell or trade at moment.
But my question is how hackers at that time were able to hack those games?(c)krzy

I'd imagine it's good. Those white Fami cartridges come in all sorts of shades now that they are about 20 years old. Maybe the cart was exposed to UV light for a long time for some serious sunfade.

@Frank_fjs: I don't see any screw holes.

@80sFreak: I have to fess up and say $10 :-[. But they do tend to gouge on ebay

The label looks to be about the same size as the shipping labels we use at work. I might just have to make a replacement.

I doubt it; the text is the same colour as the red virus and there's still a faint bit of colour on that one.

TS, you could open it and make sure chips are legit, if there is a doubt

but it looks too good for pirate.

that sounds reasonable. Red color vanishes completely from label

Come on, guys, it's just a faded label.  Do you honestly believe that pirates would remove the "Dr Mario" katakana, but not the Nintendo logo, Family Computer logo, the Nintendo copyright, the trademark after the game title, and the trademark after the katakana title?  I mean, I know pirate labels seldom make sense, but they certainly know how to remove copyright notices.

famifan

the another drama is that TS spent 10 bucks for this heavily faded cart.

manuel

Yeah, I have it much cheaper in my sales thread and nobody wants it...
