Pretend is not such a bad translation actually but it doesn't makes any sense in this case. The Japanese name of the game of tag is "onigokko" which really means to pretend (as kids are doing when they play) to be oni.

Instead of google translate try using an online dictionary like http://rut.org/cgi-bin/j-e/dict or since I guess you can read kana you can just use jisho.org. They are both using Jim Breen's dictionary core EDICT. For whole sentences google translate or http://www.excite.co.jp/world/ might be better though.

All 10 games are now posted :star:

I have a better tape recorder on the way from 80sFreak, so once that arrives I'll make a quality recording of the cassette and post it.

Great job! Now I must just get myself a Family Basic so I can try them out! :D

A literal translation of the books title: "Nintendo's Family Computer - Book of understanding Family Basic".

sorry to bump this very old thread, especially for my first message here, but thanks to the kind support by UglyJoe in the past couple of days, I've managed to add tape support to Family BASIC in MESS emulator (the MAME sister-project for console and home computer emulation) and I'm happy to report that they definitely work great!

Given how hard is to find real BASIC tapes for Family BASIC, I really want to thank UglyJoe for the time he spent typing and saving these programs!

Bumping good old threads like this one is actually just good I think.
Yup, UglyJoe is the man! ;D I'm glad I could also help you, although inderectly. :)

Thanks for your painstaking work, UglyJoe!  I'm gonna download these and try them out with my Nt Mini.
