I've wanting to start a diy portable console conversion project for some time. Which would be a better candidate? The Nes or the famicom? What are some technical complications I can expect?

ulera

You ever do anything like this? Just curious.

ulera

You know... I have an extra NES lying around, I think I'm just gonna use it instead of paying for a famicom.

ulera

I think I'll keep the NES slot and just use the 60-72 pin adapter Unitip is sending me in our trade.

Whatever you do, don't do it Ben Heckendorn-style.

Measure everything you do at least twice, and design the case to fit the electronics. Don't try cramming the electronics into a case they were never designed for.

ulera

This is just a low budget proof of concept thing so I'm probably just gonna make a cheap case out of a stripped out battleship cases.

If it works, when I make another I will be sure to follow your advice.

highly recommend you to use lithium rechargable batteries
