On their Official Website of Sony it appears the PlayStation 3 Slim comes with the Firmware 3.00 but it makes it obvious that it doesn't due to the fact that Uncharted 3 is included and the firmware U3 needs to be playable is 3.72 FW.

Come on Sony, this isn't cool.

By the way, "faster on Blu-ray Disc" more false information. BD's speed is 1x only, so at least allow the user to install every games' data on the HDD (not possible).

manuel

The FW on the console is 3.00, but you will be prompted to update when you insert the Uncharted 3 disc. (That's my theory.)

Did you look at the picture for that bundle?  It comes with one copy ("1x") of the movie Faster on a Blu-ray Disc.  ;D

Sony would never allow their users to be using a firmware that is capable of being hacked, so 99.9% it has 4.21 FW which is the latest firmware.

Damn Sony, don't lie!

How is this a scam?  It's either as Manuel said, or a mistake.  What'sso special about  FW 3.00?
If they got the blu-ray speed thing a bit wrong I'd say it's just an error.  It's on sony.co.uk it wouldn't surprise me if they just have the listing up without knowing every minute detail.

Does anyone still wonders about Sony's behaviour? We should be far beyond that point by now ???
Do you know when that page was set up? Maybe it's already old news

It's an inaccurate miscommunication at worst, I don't think you can call it a scam.  A scam would be an ad that doesn't send the item when you've paid for it.

3.00-3.55 are hackable FWs.

It's still a trap. What they're selling has most likely 4.21 FW.

You're complaining that they posted the wrong firmware. No one really gives a shit about the firmware unless they're going to hack their systems, and by extension, pirate. Also, the "Faster" thing is just a lack of comprehension skills. This is in no way a scam, just a mistake. Hell, it might even come with 3.00, you assumed it wouldn't because the game contains an update.

Actually, thats not true.  You could do awesome stuff with the older versions like run linux clusters and stuff and you didn't need to hack anything, it was actually allowed up until a certain firmware update.  It is definately useful information for those of us using these things as cheap hardware for server clusters

Hacking a console isn't pirating, it opens a new world of possibilities, take for example the PSP.

PSP with the official firmware is an awful device, but once it has CFW, anything is pretty much possible. The plugins made the PSP so damn awesome and informative!

Meh, but that's not a majority of the userbase. IF it were more widespread, then I'd understand.

Key phrase: by extension.

If what I'm reading is true about Sony starting to make super slim PS3's and stopping production on the current ones, then it will only be a matter of time before the newer slims are hacked too...

Sony even removed the small LEDs that used to lighten up the ON/OFF and Disc button. The hell, were the LEDs too expensive for Sony to stop using them? ???
