Pirate games (I assume we're talking about Famicom now) work fine for the most part since there are no lockout mechanisms, with small exceptions among the latest and cheapest made multicarts from China and the like.

A Genesis model 1 AC adapter will work as well! I use that one adapter for almost everything these days since I don't have official adapters for my Fami, TG16, SFC or Neo Geo.
