I played Alundra and Contra Adventure last night for the PS1

The second one doesn't work at all, even after I cleaned it.

Let me tell you something... GTA IV on the PC is an insult to PC gamers. It's unfathomable how such a shoddy port would have gotten past Rockstar and Valve. If I were Valve I would not have given them the green light to release the game until it was playable.
