It wasn't that much actually. Around half of what I expected, and not too different from your VB.
I read up on the SG1000 and while they are hard to find, they haven't really been considered collectors items, because the second version is superior. But they have become very hard to find, unless you are lucky.
That's how it is with many of these earlier consoles, such as TV-games from the 1970s, Epoch, Intellivision, Pong, Bandai stuff. Can be hard to find, but not necessarily expensive. Interesting, no?
Personally I would prefer these cheap, good looking, fun stuff rather than boring expensive collectors item.  :D

True, everyone collects certain things; I personally wouldn't have any use for SG-1000 as I already own Atari 2600. But yea, it's cool looking.
VB isn't just a collectors piece though, it's also a interesting gimmicky gaming system with a good handful of fun games and numerous homebrew games that can be play on Flash carts.

Virtual Mario Land
Mario Kart Virtual Cup
BLOX
BLOX 2
SIMON
Yeti3D
And many many more, most of which are better then games that were officially released. So don't count VB out just yet, it's homebrew scene is big!

Oh, I love the Virtual Boy, for sure. I have one and have two more on their way. As long as I don't play on it.
It is Game & Watch I don't like.  :P

I would honestly describe the game value to be like 40 hours max. The thing is better NOT using, than using....  :-\ I mean it looks cool.

I figured you did not like it, because of this comment; so why own more then one?

No one else commenting on my last find? No Sega guys here...?

Definitely a cool pick up.  :o

I'd like to get some pre Mark III SEGA consoles some day.

Did it come with any games or the console box too?

.

fredJ

Nope nothing, but it was cheap so I'm happy...  :) I may have bought some compatible games already. ???
Yesterday one turned up with box...  Too expensive for me, but pocket money for you?.   ;)
The SG-1000 II is actually relatively affordable though. I have one boxed on the way soon.

No box is fine, I pick up loose consoles too if the price is just too good to pass up. I also only get boxed consoles if the price seems good or below normal market value.

You have might have compatible games already? lol, sounds very much like a collector to have so much stuff they're not sure.

The SG-1000 II is a cool looking machine. I like SEGA's retro styling. It captures the modern look better than some of the other consoles of its time.

Agree. That's why I like it, and just look at the Mark III game boxes....  :-[
But the Mark III console has the same design actually.

They are still in Japan and I don't have pics anymore...

it's too hard to comment on these consoles, for example I don't believe I will ever see one of these on my own eyes. I would love though, see and own.
It took me years to get a Japanese SMS (1st model).
Great find man!

Cool Disk Kun t-shirt, I would wear that. :)

famiac

I stopped by one of the worst pawn shops in the city and actually found something half decent! The Atari carts were all $5 a piece, and Kid Dracula with the clamshell was $2.50. On a short playthrough, I almost enjoy the GB version more than the FC. :bub:

Awesome, aside from the authentic "Mr. Do!'s Castle" those look like PAL Atari pirates. Do they play on an NTSC console?

Those are Canadian Sears/Zellers (?) carts as far as I know, I heard they were all rip offs of other popular titles, and were made to work in the regular Atari consoles.

@ stealthlurker - Those Saturn arcade sticks look incredible, it would be neat to snag one to modify my Neo 29, since I'm not too keen on making a new control panel wired for 6 button CPS2 titles I have. :)

manuel

I also have that Disk-kun shirt. It's awesome
People in game stores always look when I wear it.  ;D
