Where was that deal?

Not exactly gaming related.... but I mainly got it for quirky gaming in mind!  ;D

So I picked up some deal of the day on woot a few days ago. A pico projector/backup batter iPhone case. Normally I believe it went for 220+, but got it for about 80 shipped.

Been dorking around with it at the house. Pretty impressed with the brightness and picture quality for a pico projector. I've been able to get a very good image on a screen size that's larger than 100 inches at work (unfortunately didn't take a pic). I was also walking around the neighborhood earlier this evening and projecting Esprade on the side of peoples homes (no windows of course, just a solid outer wall) haha.

I'm pretty impressed. I've heard there can be issues tate'ing a standard projector, but this makes it so easy. 100" tate shmups anyone?

Here are some pick ups from the past week!

I had these games with no labels and the Super Mario Land was just a board so I found a pirate case for it and made it a nice label :p

That's all for now!

Yeah I already told him about that... perhaps he'll fix the photos one day. I remember one of the pictures contained the same Street Fighter Anniversary PS2 controller that I have!
So ends another chapter in the glorious legend of the Ninja... Until next time...

I got an amazing find today - I'm so happy I have never seen one of these before, I wish I knew more about it and could play with it more.

Has anyone else seen one of these before?

Spoiler
No not the gameboy, this little gem that was hidden in the back of it!

I have seen only one of those carts before, but it was a lesser model than what you have there! All I know about it is that it is a cart that was originally used to develop games for the monochrome Gameboy. The most information you can find out about it would probably be from this old Gameboy programming manual made by Nintendo in 1999 http://chrisantonellis.com/files/gameboy/gb-programming-manual.pdf
Here are a few games I am looking for right now
Super Puzzle Fighter II X (Sega Saturn)
GeGeGe no Kotarou (Sega Saturn)
Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu (Sega Saturn)
KiKi KaiKai (PC Engine) (CIB)
Puzzle Bobble (Super Famicom) (CIB)

I picked up a few new-school things at a Goodwill for cheap, and flipped them for trade credit at a game store in town. Long story short: I picked up Super Bomberman 2 (SNES), The Last Starfighter (NES), and Yo! Noid (NES) for $7 today. I've been wanting the SNES Bomberman games for a while now. This is my first copy of Last Starfighter, but I've played it before and it sucks. I'll be selling it to a friend working on a complete set. (Between him and me, there's at least 1,000 NES carts in our neighborhood.) And, well, I've been thinking about giving Yo! Noid another chance. (It might have something to do with nightstar's enthusiasm for the game...)

I happen to like these sort of thoughts! Some advice to help you get started.

Stage 01: You already know the main hazard, here... the water, and the ground constantly shifting up and down. This game isn't very lenient when it comes to this trap, so be patient... if guaranteed survival means that you must wait for another cycle, then do it. On the final platform jump of the stage, there will be a fish jumping out of the water. I'd recommend taking him out before jumping, or just learn the timing really well so you can kill him mid-jump, otherwise he'll kill you out of the air.

Stage 02: If you hit the falling ice blocks with your yo-yo, they'll explode into little ice cubes which kill you... be aware of this as you navigate the stage, because it can really fuck up lesser-experienced Noiders. The Eskimo enemies that kick projectiles at you can be tough to deal with, I'd recommend using magic to take them out quickly. About half way through the stage, there is a hidden III card in the air, just before a jump onto a platform.I'd recommend yo-yoing the air as you jump to figure out and memorize where this item is. Jumping onto the moving ice platforms can be a real pain, you have to twitch back and forth, and possibly hop a little to prevent from sliding off, you'll have to get used  to this  to clear the stage.

Stage 03: On the skateboard, you can jump to kill enemies, but you want to make sure you hit them with the back wheels, so they don't get you first. When the flying enemies come to drop bombs, I'd recommend backing up a little bit, and doing a small hop over the bombs. Near the end of the stage, there is a jump which you have to build up speed, and jump at the absolute last second, or else you'll fall into the pit. Learn the timing, and jump as late as possible.

Stage 04: Upon killing the enemy who has it, this level lets you use the Pizza Crusher. If you're swiftly navigating the platforms on the Crusher, be aware that the Crusher only lasts for a brief period of time, and if you lose it mid-jump, then you'll fall straight to the ground, and quite possibly, to your death. Luckily Noid will flash for a second before he's about to lose the Crusher... this was actually added in to Yo! Noid, in Kamen No Ninja Hanamaru, he didn't flash before losing it. Watch out for the balloon enemies in this stage, as they'll turn into stone and fall on you when you go under them... but if you're high up enough, you can take them out before they have the chance to turn to stone. Also be aware of the fire-spitting enemies who not only shoot projectiles, but they take multiple hits of your standard weapon before they're defeated.

Stage 05: At the beginning of the stage, take the lower path. Break open the third item (rather than collecting it for the special meter), and it'll be an invincibility. This will help you quickly make it through much of the stage. The moving platforms aren't too intimidating, most of the flying fish will miss you while you're on it. However, upon jumping across stationary platforms, one of the fish will come straight at you, so be prepared to take him out with a jumping attack.

Stage 06: Patience is key, as mostly is the case in Yo! Noid/Kamen No Ninja Hanamaru. You really have to look before you leap in this stage, because the flying fish are deadly, and they're ready to attack upon nearly every jump. So, as you jump across the platforms, wait a second to allow the fish to try flying at you... then take them out with a quick jump attack. Half way through the stage, when you come across a yacht with "Noid" written on it (why does it say Noid on it, anyway?), you can jump left on that platform, and you'll be warped to the whack-a-mole mini-game. I'd highly recommend give it a try, because if you meet the quota, you'll automatically finish the goal so you won't have to  complete the rest of the stage. And the second half of this stage is filled with cannons which are pretty difficult to bypass if you haven't learned their patterns, so I think you should give the whack-a-mole game a shot. Not to mention you get an extra continue for completing the minigame.

There are 8 more stages than the ones I offered advice for... tell me how they go. I could offer more advice if you're stuck on a particular part, but overall Yo! Noid/Hanamaru is a game of  patience and adaptation... and luck, as far as the boss battles go. Damn it, I wish they just would have featured regular bosses to fight, not stupid mini-games...
So ends another chapter in the glorious legend of the Ninja... Until next time...

Agreed, I think the bosses are what kept me from enjoying. (Well, those and level 2) It's the same reason I never liked the Alex Kidd game for the Mega Drive. :-\

Yeah. Kamen No Ninja Hanamaru and Kero Kero Keroppi No Daibouken 2 have that in common... they're two of my favorite games ever made, but I know they'd be even better if they just had traditional bosses rather than stupid mini-games. Like, the mini-games would be cool... as mini-games. Optional mini-games, they shouldn't completely take the place of boss battles.

New stuff from the last couple of days! ^_^

This was given to me by a co-worker! Isn't she sweet?

I picked up this Ipod classic from Craiglist for 30 bucks. I know it's not gaming related but I do have video game music in it so I figure it counts :p

Some stuff I got in the mail! ^_^

Thanks Amazon! All Gamestops were out of the limited edition so I went online and Amazon bailed me out!

That's all gamers!

Here are a couple of finds from today!

Look at all the batteries it needs! I need AC adapter and more games for it!

I also picked these games up from a local game shoppe!

Ok, so I see an SNES listed on Craigslist the other day. No power cord... $90. My first thought: "Yeah, riiiiight." CL has some nutty sellers on there sometimes, to be sure. But I decide to email anyway, and ask if there are any games that come with it. After a little bit of fairly confusing communication, I find that it does actually come with 30-some games. Half of 'em are crappy sports games, but they're also open to offers.

I offer $60, and they accept. I was busy Friday night, and they were away yesterday, so I got over there to pick it up. Not a bad little bundle: Mega Man X, two copies of Mario All-Stars, Mario World, Mario Kart, and a handful of decent $5 games. Most exciting for me is the SNES mousepad; I didn't have one of those yet.

80GB Ipod for FREE. why? because it was resetting apple icon. so i put into DFU mode and did a factory reset to it and now it works like it should. not sure what to do with it now considering i have no use for an ipod.
I am a big Nintendo fan! especially GameBoy, N64, SFC, GC. And of course Mario games
I collect SFC/N64 mainly. Some rare famicom stuff too. Also miscellaneous video game stuff.
