It's just a DS game cartridge loaded with normal DS games, NOT 3DS games. No idea if it would work on a 3DS though, since the 3DS firmware updates fairly often to block this sort of stuff.

I owned the 2 blue books waaaaay back in elementary school (ordered them out of the Book Order Catalogs they used to pass out!). The red one, I don't think I ever owned. I do remember seeing a kid with it on the playground and the kid kept calling Toad in the screenshots of SMB2 "Mushroom Baby".

I do like the "not-infringing Link" on the cover!
