right, but that's more expensive and far more cumbersome. The Ouya and the tablet I bought are self contained.

GohanX

That tablet looks seriously cool.

I am interested in the ouya as well, but mostly for mupen64plus ae and other emulators.

So I got my tablet and been fiddling around with it. Very pleased with it for the most part. A full review and thread for it will be forthcoming so I dont interfere with this Ouya thread.

Ok, so they put out a software update and I'm liking the improvements. It now works as it should when it officially launches. The new store looks cool. Realistically, I can see the Ouya acquiring some quirky B-games like Slender and Surgeon Simulator 2013. I'm totally ok with that, those games are sort of my guilty pleasure.

Yes, I probably spent hours playing Supra Mayro Kratt with a friend.

Does the Ouya have access to the google play store?

petik1

Not natively. I'm assuming if you install the Google Play .apk you could get somewhere. In fact, I think I'll try that out.

Only some Android phone native apps would be good; but most would be pointless.
I'd only use the NFS and few other games, and probably a couple other standard apps.

Well it's official, Ouya is a hit and doing well as a Indie platform. It's not aiming to be your main system, but it's definitely an accompanying console to go with your PS4/Xbox One or maybe Wii U.

ive heard the n64 emu is slightly dodgey, is this true ???  (  mario  64 /  ssb /  lozoot , etc  )
also, can anyone tell me what sonic cd is like on one of these?

I am a big Nintendo fan! especially GameBoy, N64, SFC, GC. And of course Mario games
I collect SFC/N64 mainly. Some rare famicom stuff too. Also miscellaneous video game stuff.

I'm still not convinced it's more than good PR.  I'm more in line with the VideoGamer.com review.

The idea and hope it represented I buy into 100%, but the actual execution and result doesn't live up to it for me.

In the end I went for Steam with big picture.
Most if not all these google apps are on PC, the smaller of which don't make sense to me on a TV.

I ended up buying an Ouya with 2 controllers. I was gonna wait because in the beginning I believed the system to not fully ready but after many software updates I feel confident in owning one.

To make things substantially better, Amazon AppStore can be downloaded from Amazon directly to the Ouya. This has added great hi grade apps, that function properly rather then the sideloaded garbage people are tossing into their poor Ouya's.

I am entirely convinced that Ouya will get better and better, I will be buying the model 2 Ouya upon release too because that will be worth the price still at $100.

I grabbed one and have been messing with it for the past few days. I'm mainly using it as the world's tiniest Mame box, and it does not disappoint. The Neo Geo X and USB Saturn pads work great on it. I haven't had a chance to really dig too much into the actual Ouya software, as the wifi is slow as hell and it was taking forever to download anything. I ended up using a wireless bridge to the Ethernet port and everything is much faster now.
