More Ouya stuff will be coming soon, but here's a spoiler report for the other emulators:

Genesis - Most work well, although the sound is that of the model 2's. No slowdown, will read any region roms but I have encountered some isolated problems with specific games. Completely free.

GameBoy/GameBoy Color - works extremely well, but does not emulate any Super GameBoy functionality at all, so games like Donkey Kong '94 are stuck in GBC mode only. Also optionally supports GBA mode, so Zelda Oracles, Shantae and a few others benefit from the late generation hardware boost of the GBA. Along with the NES emulator, this one is good enough to warrent an Ouya purchase on its own. It's also completely free.

GameBoy Advance - Also works extremely well. GBA games run at full speed, including intensely pseudo 3D games like Star Wars Flight of the Falcon or any of the system's 3D racers, FPS, etc. Sound emulation is near perfect. Golden Sun looks and sounds absolutely amazing on a 50" HDTV. I have encountered slight sound hiccups in some games (MOTHER 3 is the worse offender) but overall this is again an amazing effort. Free.

Neo-Geo Pocket Color - The NGPC never gets its dues, so I was presently surprised someone took the time to write an Ouya emulator for it, and what do you know, they did a good job. Games look and sound just like they should, but the emulator does not produce any voice samples as of yet. This is a minor issue as only a handful of games used voice clips, but it does make the Metal Slug games especially a little bit less impressive with the announcer doesn't proclaim "Heavy Machinegun!" as you take dudes out. Free, but needs voice clips to be flawless.

N64 - A mixed bag. Definitely better than what the Original Xbox can do, but this one seems very beta-y. There are three graphics cores included, which all work better or worse depending on the rom you try. Some games won't boot with any of the cores, including Pokemon Puzzle League and Doom 64. On a positive note, Super Mario 64 Star Road works, but there's slight slowdown. Right now this emulator is novel, but its far from perfect. It's free.

PS1 - Not happy with this one at all. You need to pay to use this, supply your own BIOS file, and even after all that, every game I've tried has problems. The UI absolutely sucks, there is lots of sound popping, and sometimes the sound will cut out all together, like you muted your tv. Really annoying. I thought this would handle less demanding games like Castlevania Symphony of the Night or Lunar Silver Star Story Complete better than the 3D titles, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. NOT worth spending any money on until it's massively updated. Right now it's a pile of crap.

NDS - I haven't tried this yet, but I can't imagine it'll be very strong.

Also haven't tried NeoGeo, PC Engine, C64 or any others I haven't mentioned yet.

I recommend installing DraStic NDS emulator and mapping the controller. It's available in a simple google search, and functions much nicer then the official OUYA NDS emulator.

hey btw, shoot me a pm with skype info. I wanna chat with you on doing sideloading and such on ouya.

GohanX

Sideloading is a piece of cake. Put apk files on your usb drive on your computer, download a file manager on the Ouya and use it to install apks. Easy.

satoshi_matrix

which do you recommend?

Also what sideloaded games/apps would you recommend? One game I'd love to get working if at all possible on Ouya is Doom and Doom 2. Is Brutal Doom possible?

NintendoKing

Ouya has an official file manager free, FilePwn in the Discover shop. Also most APK files you can download directly on the Ouya via the web browser.

GohanX

Id like to know about Doom myself. Retroarch supports it but the controls leave something to be desired.

I haven't done a lot of sideloading, but I have installed Mame4Droid and it's pretty swanky.

I recently switched out the original OUYA case for a 3D printed one designed by Makerbot. :)
It looks awesome!

On a sidenote OUYA now supports GameFly for AAA titles through cloud streaming. ;)

Thread from the dead...

But that 3D printed case looks awesome!  :o

Ouya are being sold to Razr.  So, that was an interesting few years then.

UglyJoe

That's still a rumor (unless you've got inside info ;)).  They're definitely looking to sell, though.

NintendoKing

Well the rumor about Razer buying OUYA was true, they wanted to software and library of games for their own console.

L___E___T

Yup, I just saw another official announcement today - it's a done deal.  I still don't really get it, but some people love it, so yay for them I guess :bub:

They are shutting down the OUYA after June, 2016. They will be offering deep discounts to OUYA gamers because they have a list of those who created OUYA accounts before June 2015.

Eagerly anticipating Ouya's showings in the "top 10 [strangest/worst/most infamous] consoles of the 2010s" videos next decade.
