Starting Wednesday 20th, I'm going on a week-long vacation with my family, to a really nice place three hours from here, you know, the kind with lots of restaurants, beaches, arcades, etc. (keep in mind that while you're freezing up there in the northern hemisphere, down here we are roasting because it's summer, so vacation time yay!). The last thing I'd like to see there is a computer, but arcade heaven here I come!!! ;D
So, see you in a week :D!
Cool, dude. Enjoy yourself!
I love when hotels have mini arcades in them. Some of my best vacation memories are of pumping quarters into arcade games before and after spending the day at amusement parks.
Anyway, have fun!
Have fun!!!
Have a Good Time ;)
Enjoy man! :) Youre a lucky guy, an arcade hall.... wish they were here :'(
Have a nice week and bring us some photos of the place! ;D
I'm back! ;D
How was the trip? Did you have fun?
As you may (or may not) have noticed, I disappeared for a couple of weeks. Here's why:
The Bad:
On November 22th, my dog was ran over at a nearby street. He died instantly, and the idiot who did it also had the nerve to steal his name tag to thwart identification (or maybe to pass it as a stray dog and escape the law). It was devastating. I got really depressed. This is not my first dog, but it's the first dog I've had that loved me so much (and viceversa). He was just days away of being 9 months old and it was the best partner I've ever had. I feel really alone now, with a huge void inside me that I can't seem to fill up. I'm currently under psychiatric medication since I have trouble with falling asleep and my mood is rock-bottom.
I think this struck me so hard because I'm going through some other difficulties (financial, academic, family, etc), so it was the time when I needed him most :'(. I'm currently looking for another dog, but my search has not proved fruitful.
My TV set also kicked the bucket after 19 years of faithful service. But luckily it's just a power transistor away of coming back to life.
The Good:
On October 4th, the Famicom Disk System arrived! (just shy of two months according to the packaging date). Everything is in great condition! Once again, thank you so much JC and everyone else who made this possible :D :D :D. I've already built the FDSLoadr RAM Adapter cable to transfer FDS games from the PC to the RAM cart. The pinout on FDSLOADR.TXT is wrong, I had to retrace it myself to get it working. I guess that's one of the many reasons of FDSLoader not working for most people.
I'll be posting pictures and an official thread on the Famicom / Disk System board.
Conclusion:
I'm back, Famicom World. Thank you so much for being such an awesome community. It's that kind of magic that cannot be explained with words alone. I'm pretty sure you know what I mean ;).

I miss you, my friend :'(
Well, thats how life is - you take the bad with the good. As you know I'm sorry to hear about your dog, but at least it was a quick death, not something that was prolonged and painful. Glad your back on FW
I've been wondering where you've been. Sorry to hear about the circumstances of your absence. I had assumed you went on vacation and were having a good time somewhere.
Glad to see that you're back. :)
I don't know you well but you've helped me out a lot. Glad to see that you're back!
I'm really sorry to hear about your loss. I had quite a few myself in the past couple of years so I know exactly how you feel. I'm glad you are back but I know the pain you are going through is going to take time to surpass. Give it time and you'll see everything will be alright. Glad your back!
glad to see your back dude ;)
Welcome back, 133MHz. I think we all understand the ups and the downs. Glad you're back with us...This gives me an opportunity to share a quote that gets me through tough times:
You must understand the whole of life, not just one little part of it. That is why you must read, that is why you must look at the skies, that is why you must sing and dance, and write poems and suffer and understand, for all that is life... -- Jiddu Krishnamurti, spoken
Wb and all the best.
Sorry to hear about your dog :(
Sorry to hear about your misfortune, I know you'll come through it though. Glad to have our resident Chilean tech god back. BTW, I'm going to Chile at the end of the month ;D
Awww! :( He wasn't even a year old! :-\
My dog is like 14 or 15.
aww man that sucks. Very sorry to hear that. I also get VERY attached to my pets and take it very hard when anything happens to them. I nearly had a break down when my dog of 16 years passed away :( Hang in there bro and get what you need to get done and back rolling in the right direction. Best of luck.
~~NGD
You have my condolences 133mhz. I know the grief of losing a beloved pet. The best way for me to deal with it is to work with a hobby. Its a good thing that you have that fds to keep you busy.
You have my condolences.
That was one cute and beautiful dog.
I know how you feel, because I also get attached to animals pretty fast and have lost a dog and several cats in my life.
But it's good to have you back.
Sorry to hear about your dog man. I was close to my dog "Shadow" back in the 90s. But like me he's got (had) a restless spirit and finally jumped the fence and went back to being a Stray. Learned two months later, he'd been mauled by three other dogs five blocks from my house. :( But at least Shadow went down fighting. Don't know you as I'm new here, but losing a dog you're close to does indeed suck. Hopefully you can make that connection with another dog. But I look forward to conversations with you along with the others here.
Strange, I also had a dog named Shadow. Shadow & Homer... then we had to get rid of Shadow because his barking annoyed the neighbors. We still visited him until the owner backed over him with a truck. (http://www.geocities.com/jedi_questmaster/hmph.gif) (http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/alles_moegliche/mixed-smiley-012.gif)
I blame the neighbors. (http://www.geocities.com/jedi_questmaster/hmph.gif)
Welcome back. Sorry about your dog.
I had to put my own dog down in October, he was suffering from seizures from a brain tumor. 8 years of happiness are left behind... it hits hard...
RIP Luke
(http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk269/thegreatgonz0/Luke.jpg)
Hey Im also sorry for your dog...I know how you feel, since I also lost mine this year about 3 months ago. She was about 11 years old and had this tumour on her stomach. The tumour did nothing really, and had it for years, when suddenly this year the tumour made her sick. She didn't eat, didn't move or listen to us, and had half her eyes half closed. It was just too sad to see her suffer like that and know that she would die so we had to put her down. :-\ In one day I saw her alive, and 3 hours later on the same day she was buried in my backyard. :'(
man all your stories are sad..
I'm really sorry about your guys dogs its hard to lose someone your close to. Stuff like that can make life pretty depressing.
Especially when you know it wouldn't''ve happened if your freaking neighbors didn't whine about it. >:( I could've still had him to this day - he was my favorite. :-\
Why does everything I like get destroyed? (http://www.websitegoodies.com/smilies/indifferent0015.gif)
I'm sorry to hear about your dog...I know how you feel.... :'(
best of wishes...
I thought I'd create a thread where people can say a few words when they know they'll be absent for a few days/weeks or when they come back.
And I'll use it first. I think I won't be on much for the next 2 weeks, because I've got sh*tloads of translation assignments that need to be finished.
Although I might come around when I take food breaks.
Spoiler
So be good, guys. What does this new button do? ... Aah!
You use it to hide spoilers! :D

I'll be gone this weekend but checking in from my phone anyway, I predict a great deal of empty time...
I'll be gone from Monday to Friday next week. I may check in on Friday, so look busy! :P
I will be gone the rest of the day partying and all...cya Friday!!!
I'll be popping my head in and out every so often, :P
i haven't been here in a while ;o
I'll be gone a few days.
I just got elected to public office, so I won't be around much for the next week or two as I work on a bunch of stuff. I hope to check in each day but probably won't be keeping up with many threads. :-\
Congratulations on your win for City Council! :)
Congratulations! I hope you're an honest politician.

Gone to my lake until Monday.
Gone Fishin'
See you all in 9 days!
Hey everyone, Just wanted to let you guys know I'll be gone for two weeks on vacation to the far east coast of Canada!
Should be a good time and I'm hoping for cooler weather. Talk to ya when I get back!
Leaving for the 4th of July weekend, will be back Monday.
I'm going to be selling my dad's sweet corn until the end of next week and will be staying at my grandma's without my laptop, so I'll be on my phone's browser every once in awhile to check PMs a bit but that's it. See you later!
I've been gone thanks to school, but now I'm having trouble finding time because of a full time summer job which only limits me to being on once a week, usually Sunday. I will find time to do that Thunderbirds review though that I promised way back when.
Back from my vacation. Tried earthbound for the first time on an emulator while I was there and now I'm addicted.
I love games that are "aware" of themselves,
Back from the big move finally!
Will be leaving almost every weekend this summer. Updates to come.
be gone from saturday to tuesday (american eastern time)
Well, I'm back. Made almost $600. Now buy my Famicom games!
Holy crap :o that's crazy man! how do u make that much money? what's the secret? when i make like a stand and sell stuff i make like 30$
People in Iowa like corn.
Just wondering -- Do you sell GMO or non-GMO corn? Is it the Round-Up Ready Monsanto seed?
To tell you the truth I have no idea. :D All you need to know when you're selling in a small town such as this is what kind it is, where it was grown and whose it is. I'll ask my dad though and edit this post.
I'm going to be on the next awesome party/convention FamiCON, at Warsaw, Poland from Wednesday 14-th till Monday 19-th of July :

Be sure to take lots of photos for us and have fun!
That's badass. :)
Hi everyone, just got back online after FamiCON#2 + another few days off ;-) The con was simply amazing, fun and gaming packed like in the last year, here are just some of the pics (the rest is coming up like in the next week or something) :

Haha, that looks fun!
Back after weeks of being gone. Truthfully I came here on my bad internet connection but it kept not letting my posts process.
Starting this Sunday, school will start so I'll be there. I will have internet so I'll try to check in once in a while, but it'll be a hard chemistry semester so we'll see.
Chemistry... try not to blow up the building. ;)
I'll do my best Manuel
Just got back from a week-long band trip to Florida! We played in a parade at DisneyWorld and got to enjoy all of the parks. It was really fun, and one thing I'll always miss about Florida is the winter weather. It was literally perfect weather in my opinion.
just got back from myrtle beach where a HUGE car show was being held. it was great....until my alternator went out :(
back, had to get a new network card installed on my computer...
What's the name of your band?
Not coming or leaving... Staying. I decided to stay in Japan working for the same company for another year.. Hah, I wasted so much money rushing out and buying a famicom library, but now I can rest easy, and I might start a little store with every duplicate from here on out. :yoshi:
I am happy for you !
Why would anyone want to leave Japan anyways.
Maybe we can even do a little business now...
Good decision!
For 1 year more of retro game hunting!
Contact me if you ever come to the Hiroshima region!
Thanks guys!
Fredj, I'll be stocking up on anything that seems like a good deal, so yeah, I'd like to be able to do business with you guys or anyone who needs a Japanese games fix. Eventually I'll put up my goods.
Manuel, I'll let ya know if I'm ever in the area ;D
leaving friday to go on a cruise
FamiCON#3, here I come :star: :pow:
Be back next week.
ill be gone on sunday but will be on my driod
Aw, damn, in 30/40 mins I'll have to leave for work.
Don't even feel like going but have to.
I'm back filled with a LOT of 8-bit energy :-)
FamiCON#3 was simply freaking awesome!
It was nice to meet old buddies and team up with a bunch of new ones.
There was like ~~30 ppl, great convention, amazing climax.
To wrap thing up in 3 basic terms :
Lot of playing
(http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/7401/image001opd.jpg)

Lot of cool stuff
(http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/2509/image003ix.jpg)
...till next year, maybe someone from FW would like to join us?
Yeah, I confirm that. Everything was awesome!! :] If you have a lot of money for buying some stuff and arriving, go meet us in Poland. A party like this appears only once a year!!
That's looks like it was a blast! I've always wanted to go to Poland...
That's a lot of beer. ;D
Looks like it was great fun!
im ba.ba.back! did ya miss me? :D
L___E___T, I believe we missed that "drinking Hogan's Alley" one ;-)
Remember FW that you're all always welcome next year at FamiCON#4, it would be awesome to make it international, lol, just think about it, prepare some free time in mid July and don't worry - we can speak engrish :P
Home now (00:00 till 09:00) then leave again at 10:00, come back again 11:00 or so, then leave 3:30-ish till midnight to work, then all again, except the 10:00-11:00. ;D
is that a projector??? cool:D
Hm, since I've got myself a job, having about 10-15 hours free from 24hrs does make it hard to have some fun time gaming around.
7-10 hours = sleeping
4hrs = watching series/films
1hr = eating slowly and relaxed (maybe 30mins or really 60mins)
Each series episode that I watch is 40mins per ep and done brilliantly (Breaking Bad), plus anime series.
Gaming's definitely fun but right now I've not been in the mood to play games at all, I got a bunch of titles to complete the story mode and haven't got the time for them, only on the weekends but still.
Bye.
I don't want to sound like a mother... but 4 hours of TV per day is definitely too much. ;D
But basically I know what you're talking about.
I also prefer watching movies to playing games when I'm exhausted. Having a full time job really keeps me from playing games as much as I'd like. :-\
I find myself playing games immediately after work, but those are usually fps because I need to shoot things after working all day. :D
Back from work, now only tomorrow midnight. :)
Just got back from the Keys in Florida. Heading to Milwaukee on the 23rd of next month :p And then Canada in October ! Finally Peru in December!
Guess who's back? 8)
Hey, I know it should be more like an "

Meanwhile, I just got back from our PL FC/NES/Pegasus convention called FamiCON#4, like always it was an outstanding party, lots of gaming and drinking... or maybe the other way around ;-)

I'm in the States next week, anyone around LA?
I'm only 2700 miles away. :P
I effectively fly past it on my travel from SoCal to NoCal (or NorCal, as they like to call themselves) and vice versa.

Hahaha, good idea! The funny part for me is that my opinions on the matter go against the official views of my home country (USA), which can make things quite interesting sometimes.
That's probably the same as me. Diplomatically certain countries have to have certain views because it's all part of a bigger picture - but looking at the question in isolation it seems pretty clear to me that they are separate territories, separate ideologies, same people same country or not.

Meh... it was JUST WONDERFUL! Year after year we're growing up stronger, party is getting bigger and everyone is participating in our convention, so there can be more and more activities during that particular event. Hell, now we even have two (2) new games for our beloved system, Function and FamiDepth + first time real musicdisk demo Cart'O'fon :pow:

Sounds like you had a great time! ;D
By the looks of it i'm not going to be around much since I now on top of all the other bullshit life has thrown at me being homeless is again a possibility and I have to be out by boxing day :'(
That's three months to find a place, surely that gives you some options. Can you appeal against the decision as you have a child? Don't be afraid to ask your friends for help..
Having a little dude with issues and being on a government payment makes it hard for me to be approved for places :( Had the same problem just after he was born. If I could stay here another year I could possibly do a work around to get myself some money sorted to possibly get a deposit and go live in buttfuck away from everything and everyone that pisses me off. As long as buttfuck has a reasonable internet and a decent post service i'm set :P
I wouldn't leave. Do you know how hard it is to evict people? You cannot just throw someone out on the street. Especially if children are involved.

I have not much in the way of legal rights to stay. The house is sinking on the north side because of not to Australian standard placement of the foundations so standing in the kitchen can be quite dicey and even my cats walking through the kitchen makes the room shake
Blimey, that would worry me a lot, hope you're able to find somewhere nice for you and the kidlet. Not sure how the Aussie state is but hope you are able to sort it all in plenty of time.
There is a total rental crisis going on. Not enough affordable housing especially where I am :( I have friends in strange places so I may be able to get somewhere soon without too much hassle
Looks like my turn now ;D I'm off for a long vacation and traveling. I might back online after New Year, but from now i will not sell anything anymore. At all.
Best regards
Hope you have a nice vacation, where are you off to and when are you back?
See the status "in tranzit"? That's it.
I know I haven't been around too much lately. I've just been a little too busy/tired with my personal life to have much left for messageboards. But don't worry about me; I'm doing ok and I'm still playing retro games.
Great to hear, are you going to win the 2015 NA challenge as well? I'm assuming you won the 2014 one as you were ahead... :D
Well, there's technically a day and a half left in the 2014 edition, but I have commanding leads in all six statistical categories, so I think I've earned the clean sweep. And yes, I'm already looking forward to defending my title into 2015. There's never been a two-time champion, let alone a back-to-back champion. Time to see if I can make some history, even in a trivial way.
That's great! Do you win anything? Good luck to you!
There's no prize, but there are some bragging rights considering the number of members who contribute to the NES thread in particular. It'd be kind of cool if there was an "award" for that, as there's an entire section for that in Nintendo Age member profiles and some of those are pretty minor, too. Maybe I'll suggest it.

I miss her :(
Hope You're alright , security ! ! ! :mario:
Indeed. I wonder what she's been up to lately? I hope she and her son are doing well.
In other news, I am in a pretty crappy bind right now in terms of my employment and there are going to probably be some big changes in my life in the next couple months. As such (and since I haven't really been active the last couple days) I figured I'd post here to kind of let everyone know what's up and to say I will probably be away from FW for a couple weeks. I'll still try to pole my head in every few days but I probably won't be doing much of anything activity wise. I really just need to focus on trying to come up with some sort of plan to pull myself and my gf and kids out of this hell I'm slowly sinking in to.
Thanks.
:( I wish you well and hope things will turn for the better soon.
Thanks friend.

I hope you can get things worked out too, bro. I have some uncertainties in my life, but I can't imagine having to deal with (presumably negative) big changes, especially with kids involved. Hope all is well.
I keep thinking, y'know I need to get back to reading Famicom World and posting there more often. But I've been consumed by the Gold-Rush Season on the Nintendo Age Beat Every NES Game in a year thread. January is an exciting time, with all of the games put back on the list. And they seem to fly away faster every year!
I've nearly matched my completion total for all of last year in less than three weeks... that's how deep my obsession has run this month. And you want to know the really crazy part? I'm 100 points out of first place right now! (Each game is given a point value between 1 and 10, which is determined by how quickly it got completed in previous years. Thus, the shorter and easier games tend to disappear early in the year and be worth fewer points.) I do have a healthy lead in number of games completed, but I've perhaps feasted on too many 1-point cupcakes like the Wheel of Fortune games. (I beat all four of them on New Year's Day.)
I'm moving back to the city tomorrow so I may not be around for a few days. Wish me luck. :mario:
Good luck Max!
Good luck man!
Thanks guys. This has been an absolute disaster of a move so far. I will elaborate more after.
I am going to probably be away for a few days again. We are in the new house now but once again it has been a complete disaster. This seem to be a common problem with FW members. Sigh. My kids are what's keeping me going right now. I haven't felt this depressed in a long time. FML.
There's an old estonian saying that to move three times is the same as surviving a fire in the house.
Truer words were never spoken.
I think I might not be present as often on FW or other forums, outside of answering PMs and updating my sale thread.
Last night I was drinking some wine and surfing the net, half pissed off at my gf for asking me to pick up a plant for her and then deliver it to her today. (This whole thing took me two hours yesterday, to get the plant and come back home, and another four hours today...to go to and from my gf's house). I didn't really want to make a big deal of it, since our plans surrounding picking up the plant changed quite a bit after her grandmother passed away a few days back, but at the same time I just felt angry that I finally had a three-day holiday, and I blew so much of it running errands.
But then I got to thinking, and I had somewhat of an epiphany. I've been wasting so much time just surfing the net, arguing with folks (primarily on Nintendo Age), as life has been passing me by. I need to get back to exercising, and want to get back to studying Chinese, as well as Afrikaans and Indonesian. With limited time in the day, something needs to go, and sadly it seems that reducing my internet time to maybe half an hour per day seems like the best option.
I'll miss you Dave. ;'(
Good luck, Dave. Internet arguments are definitely not the most productive uses of time.

I'll be going off for our 7-th, famicom generic, yet still one of a kind, domestic convention - FamiCON - from 10 to 15-th of July in Laski (https://www.google.pl/maps/place/Partyzantów+30,+05-080+Laski/@52.2952822,20.8409081,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x471eb5c6cba7f0b5:0xf904fccfbb24651a?hl=pl) near Warsaw, Track&Field themed this time as you can see, so if anybody wants to join us, consider yourselves invited, yes, we can speak English and no, we're not afraid of hosting anyone from abroad :-)
I'm not going to Poland, but I would love to see some gallery of the meeting.
As you may (or may not) have noticed, I disappeared for a couple of months ( 8 or 9 I do not remember how much i have been gone :( ) Here's why:
All the bad stuff that happened to me lately
First of all I failed some of my exams at my university and i never went on my supplementary examination and now my student rights are revoked.
I had trouble in my family my mother and father almost got divorced and this made everything for me extremely thought because both of my parents wanted me on their side and they were both right at some point but still it was a hard time.
In our family we have a cat that is 17 almost 18 years old and my mother hates him because he is always vomiting (like any cat but more frequently because of his age) and one day something showed up on his face it turned out that one of his tooths has gone bad ad so I needed money for the whole proedure in the vet but my mom said that she does not have spare money to throw on him and that his is old and always doing bad things like vomiting or for a rare occasion peeing on something like bed sheets. So i got half of the money from my father and i had to sell some of my stuff (this was still the time when my parents were separated )
My girlfriend dumped me because she found a "rich boy from UK" she always wanted to go and live / study there but i love my country and we have talked many times about this but i aways said no and that i will never leave my country and i would never have the money to do so. So she met someone on facebook but i thought that nothing was serious because he was in uk and she never said that things are serious and she is going to dump me. But one day he said that he will come here for a week and this is when she dumped me... i was so broken down (not that broken when i lost 1000$ but still )
After some time I got an email from someone claiming to be a member on FW and tha he had found a deal about ps4 consoles. It turned out to be one big scam but i was stupid for believing him and his so called friend. And neer again I am sending money via bitcoins lesson learned but it is too late and i can't turn back time. The bad thing is that i told other people about it and we bundled so we could get cheaper dhl shipping bu everything turned out to be a scam and i own them money.
(there are alot of more things that happened but i will talk another time about them)
the good things are that/color]
I managed to find a minimal wage job so i can start returning the money i own. It has been 2 months since i started and i have given part of the money but 1000$ is a lot of cash.
I talked with the university and they said that if i start studying again some of my successfully passed exams will be counted and will not have to study the subject again.
Stupid me fell in love again but this time she is not a total bitch and she loves Nintendo even more than me :D
I will write to you again later these days i do not have much free time and when i do i am usually relaxing , playing games going out etc but i will start visiting the forum frequently
I hope everyone here (there are a lot of new faces here which is nice :) ) are having a good time
Hey, welcome back. Sounds like harsh times, but things seem to be turning around for you ;D

Did they contact you through FW? If this guy is in any way related to these forums I want to make sure they get banned quickly. You can PM me the details (if there are more details).
No they did not contact me via fw but i am 100% sure hey got my email from here as another person did but nvm that . Everything happened via email and skype. Ah i do not want to blame anyone yes i did a deal with him a long time a go for some sega games but the package got lost so i refunded him the money (i am checking my records now and i found this ) but there is no evidence that the guy that send me the email claiming to be him is really him. And now that i checked his last login was in 2013 so someone just scammed me. I can provide the chat and stuff but it is not fw related .
Okay, just wanted to make sure. You can hide your email address using the "Hide email address from public?" option in your profile (account) settings, btw.
Sounds like you had a rough time. :( Anyway welcome back! :D
Thank you for all of your support
Welcome back you crazy guy!
Hope you solve all your problems soon!
Congrats on new girlfriend ;)
Sounds rough, man. Glad you're doing better by now though, and welcome back.
because some people asked me how i was scammed here is some info . I have blurred some of the information because i do not want risking the forum and the users on it.. But i do not want to flood the coming in or leaving topic with my stupid *****
Really sorry to hear that Tonev - hopefully you can get this back. That's dreadful to hear and you shouldn't feel embarrassed, there are unsavoury people doing this around the world and some are experts at it.
Ouch, sorry to hear you got scammed :(
I stick to Paypal for transactions online, BTC are just way too risky because you have no way of getting them back if something goes wrong. They're handy for buying drugs on the internet though. Joking! ;)
I just moved recently so I haven't been able to post here very often. On the bright side, I now have a desk where I keep my Famicom and Super Famicom next to a CRT and it looks nice. I plan to post here more often and use this site more than I did even before moving.
Hope the move was a smooth transition. Show us a pic of your new setup!
Sweet little set up bud. :)
I don't know how many people remember me (it's been a little while) I'm back again at last. I'm not sure why I was gone so long, thanks to AlexSMRD for reminding me about this forum. :-[
Just one question, is it possible to change your username? I've had a habit of changing my username and the one I have on here feels out of date. ::)
I know it can be done. I can try to do it for you if you PM me your new user name.
I'll be happy to do that. :) Oh yeah, I'm not sure if it's appropriate for the forum but where would be a suitable place to post a message for when I'm streaming/doing videos of Famicom stuff?
Either Famicom forums or off topic. If its strictly Famicom put it in Famicom id imagine.
I'm away at the moment - currently in China and heading back to HK in a couple of days.
Going hunting for Famicom games tomorrow - fingers crossed for some older chip based carts, but let's see.
Good luck!
I'll be in Tokyo tomorrow!
I haven't had the most time the last little bit to be online as much as I'd like to be. The father in law has cancer and is going for surgery Wednesday. We have been trying to spend as much time as we can with him. I hope all is well here. I'll still be checking in. I just won't be making any posts for the next few days.
Forums is quite calm now it seems.
Hope the surgery goes well.
Thanks P. The surgery happened this morning. He seems to be doing alright.

I've been working nights lately. I haven't had much time to log in.
Anyone at Gamescom this year?
Gonna try and get some time with the mini NES, but it's not on the show floor. Instead they had a PAL NES hooked up to CRTs ironically. Didn't get any time with the mini-NES so far, other than seeing it in a glass case. Looked great, I'm sure the quality will be there.
Guy couldn't confirm if it would run the Wii VC versions but he DID say that you could play the NES mini then pick up where you left off on a WiiU, so that's a pretty solid confirmation in my eyes (at least for now) that it runs the exact same VC versions. It would make a lot of sense that it would of course, controllers compatible out the box and everything.
One of my twins, Blayne, is in the hospital right now and will be for at least a few days. He is pretty sick. They aren't sure what it is but believe he has Kawasaki disease or scarlet fever. He also may have to have surgery on his leg for a possible infection. I can't guarantee I'm going to be around for the next bit. I'm really concerned about him.
Hope all is well with everyone else.
Man, I don't know what to say. I hope everything turns out alright.
yeah man hopefully everything comes out alright.
Thanks guys. E seems to be doing a bit better today. They treated him for kawasakis and he seems to be responding to it. With kawasakis you can have damage to the heart though so they are going to have to be doing ultra sounds on his heart for his whole life probably.
They are also talking about having to do surgery on a possible infection in his hip. They aren't sure about that one though and with the way kawasakis affects your blood vessels it would be dangerous to put him under. (I guess general anaesthetic affects your blood vessels as well)
Post Merge: January 18, 2017, 06:06:53 pm
They are watching out for meningitis (fluid around brain and skull) as well as reyes (liver failure) and signs of cardiac damage.
Glad that he got a little better. I hope everything turns out well.
We got to go home yesterday. They have the symptoms under control (fever, rash, pain, etc) and have done a few tests on his heart (ultrasound, 2 EKGs, etc...) and there aren't any signs of damage to the heart. He has more energy (still not 100%) and he is eating again which is awesome. He has to take some meds for the next few months to help prevent any damage as a result of the kawasakis from occurring and will have follow-ups with doctors, but things are looking good. :)
Awesome news, man. Glad things are looking positive.
Max my heart sank when I read what had happened - I came to this thread late, but very glad to see he's doing well. Hope you can all get some rest and reassurance now.
Please keep us posted on the full recovery, and hope everything gets more and more positive from here on out. I can't imagine what this must have been like for you guys.
Thanks for the kind words everyone. Blayne eyes are going pink again, the skin o his fingers is peeling off and his left neck lymph nodes are swollen again. He saw his paediatrician yesterday and they think the kawasakis might be coming back. If anything gets worse again we will be back in the hospital to treat for kawasakis again. Other than those symptoms he seems to be acting fine though. Before he would just sleep 22 hours a day and cry the other 2 and not eat, and he's not acting like that at all so I'm kind of confused, and somewhat concerned again.

The race isn't run until it's been run..
Max, I think in this sort of situation, the best thing is to show him that he is loved, give him something worth fighting for. Give him the will to live, so to speak, and he will keep fighting and not give up.
I hope all works out for the best.
Thanks for the kind words Dave and everyone else. It seemed like Blayne was getting better but we just had blood work done Thursday and today his paediatrician phoned me said we have to pack things and be readjusted to children's hospital because there were some things pretty off with his blood work. Levels of a marker that were supposed to be below 10 are over 100. They weren't specific but said we need to go back and be readmitted.
I hope all is well here. Sorry I haven't been around really.

Hoping for the best for your son!
Been away for way too long, just been trying to sort things up around my apartment since my girlfriend had come to see it for the first time, last weekend, and I wanted to make it a bit more appropriate than looking like a used media store or one large man cave, lol. Also trying to get things ready as my father will come and stay with me around the middle of the month, So I'm alive, doing fine, just really busy. I'll try to answer everyone's pms today.

Hope it all goes OK for you - let us know when you're back online and wishing you the best.
2 became 3 so I haven't been able to enjoy this or any other Message Board for a longer time. Hope everyone is fine out there and that life is going well. My thoughts to you and your family MaxXimus...Cannot imagine how hard it must be to go through. Afterall Retro Gaming for all what is matter is just a Hobby which always should be treated secondary if and when something other comes in the way, no matter how much one might love it...
Good bye everyone. I don't know if this is my last post or not. Things aren't going well for me and I just need to figure everything out. I feel like I'm losing it.
So take care.
Maybe I'll see some of you around somewhere some day. Till then,

I'll be missing you MaxXimus as I have always been missing this place when I'm away with life for too long, so that's why I'm so surprised you're leaving, but maybe it's the opposite for you, maybe our community is what you need to take a step off from, either way I hope you'll be fine and to see you again around with us buddy :'(

anyone knows about security16 ?
Apologies if this is a sensitive subject, but since I've only been a member here for a couple of years I haven't been able to figure out, what happened to Xious? I know he was severely injured in a fire, but he made a few posts after that nonetheless. Did something else happen afterwards?
His history is pretty sketchy. he's probably lurkin around somewhere.
How is his history sketchy? He seems to have been pretty respected from what I've read.
I received some PMs about sketchy stuff he has supposedly done in the past, but to the best of my knowledge he did nothing sketchy during his time on FW. I think he was just a weird guy with a flair for the dramatic. For example, I don't believe there was any sort of fire. I think that was just his way of making a grand exit, like he was role-playing a character on here the whole time.
I have to agree with UglyJoe. He never ever showed any picture of any fire and the way he was writing by intuition I felt that there was something kind of odd in the story. He described it very detailed I remember, even the melted plastic.... I hope everything is fine with him though and if that there indeed was a fire that he is totally fine.

Was he that sketchy to where he seriously wasn't believed about this? Did people realize he was sketchy
after he left here? Like I said, no one seems to have had a problem with him while he was here, and seemed to have a lot of valuable information and protos.
Quote from: aitsu124 on February 01, 2018, 12:42:43 pm

I dunno. It was just the way he wrote all of his posts. It always seemed like he was role-playing a character. I don't think he was "lying" about the fire, so much as he was telling a story. Something like that. He was an interesting guy, to say the least.
Did he really have plans to do things like make an external FC microphone, and document the Souseiki Fammy?
He posted a schematic and he had no doubt some technical knowledge. He said many things that he probably made up as well or was simply wrong, but I don't think he really scammed anyone here like his supposed sketchy reputation speaks of.
My view is also like UglyJoe's, he always had a way of typing his posts that made it look like a made up character (he was probably a lot younger than he said he was for one thing), although it wasn't something super obvious and people probably didn't really realised it until after his disappearing and dramatic fire story.

I'm in downtown LA all week for E3. Any Famicom fans at the show?
I won't be around much over the next few days, perhaps even into next week, though I'll try to get everything sorted out by then, at least to a reasonable extent.
My girlfriend's mother is in the hospital now, tomorrow she is having a variety of heart surgeries, it seems, three different things done. The success rate is only about 65%, I have no idea what the survival rate is. But without having a surgery, the doctor said she would die within the year, he said that a few months back. So I'm heading up to Taipei tonight, 2.5 hours away, to visit her, then returing the same evening, heading to bed, and then back to work tomorrow (Thursday).
I am very worried about the whole ordeal; she is young, only 59 years old, and the mother of three daughters, the eldest being 30. It's too young to lose a mother, especially at this age, so please everyone keep her in your thoughts, intentions, and prayers. Thanks.
Thoughts are definitely with you, your girlfriend, and family. That is a huge amount of stress and I hope everything will go smoothly. Being there together will help a lot. We'll see you on the other side my friend.

Hey MaxXimus, I read your other thread all the way through and its last few posts really brightened my day. I'm so happy to hear that you're doing better than when you made that first post and that you're over your withdrawals. Your transparency about mental health is much needed in the rest of the world. I love seeing people make progress. Stay on the up and up.
Hey there! Thanks for the words. Its definitely not easy, but mental health is no joke, and if people dont speak up about it, then the stigma will continue!

I totally agree with nintendodork. It's a nightmare here in Taiwan, and I'm guessing in other parts of Asia too. The stigma is really high. Even to visit a counceler is a huge stigma
I haven't been here in years. :)
But I'm still working on selling famicom games. :D
I remember when I put in my signature "selling games since 2011" and that was in 2012. But I knew some day it would seem like a long time ago. ;D In 2029, if I'm still around, it will seem like a really long time.
At one time I would hang around Famicom World and check for updates 25 days per day. Then I stopped visiting here because of a certain user (my friend DaBear stopped for the same reason). Came back again a year later but realized it took too much time. ;)
Also I got more interested in politics instead of gaming. So that's what I'm checking when I hae a few minutes to spare.
But I wanted you to know I'm still alive. Though I probably won't become very active here again. But maybe I have learned a few things in the last years.
Hello!
I joined here years ago, I've had a break due due to some health issues and family stuff, but I'm back playing Famicom games and looking forward to doing a bit more coding.
Hope everyone is well, good to see some familiar names are still around :)
Welcome back!

Thanks man, good to be back :)
Hello everyone. It's been a bit since I posted here. I'm doing pretty well to be honest. I'm out on my own again, and working as much as I can, while also juggling having my kids on weekends, and spending time with my new girlfriend.
I hope everyone's been staying safe!
Hey, welcome back. Good to hear that things are working out.
Hey I am back. I have been away for a very long time will have to catch up on everything that has happened while I was gone :-)
Welcome back Tonev! :) Forums have been a bit dead lately (which is kind of strange considering retrogaming had another boom lately due to the pandemic) but I think it has started to live again.
Just popping in to say hello and that I've been doing well lately. :) My 1 year anniversary with Elyssa is coming up in a couple days. We've been living together since February, and it's been just amazing. :)
I hope everyone here has been doing well, and hello to all the new members. :)
Congrats, man! Happy to hear that things are going well for you.
Exactly in 2 weeks Famicom will turn 40 + our party will turn 15 8)

Wow, 15 years strong :o
That sounds like an amazing vacation! Getting away to a place with beaches and arcades is such a fun way to spend summer. I remember going on a trip like that with my family where we just unplugged from everything and enjoyed the sun, good food, and all the arcade games. It was a blast! I hope you have a great time soaking up the sun and making some awesome memories.
