i just received a copy of super mario world vol. 1 for the famicom i've tested it on 2 different famiclones and my av famicom won't work at all game won't load and just a frozen screen with black and purple blocks does anyone know if this game requires a certain clone or something like that.

If you haven't already, try cleaning the pins on the cart. Also try hitting reset after inserting the cart and powering it on. Some pirate carts won't work until you hit reset. If that doesn't work, try taking the pcb out of the shell and give it a try again.

Still nothing? Adjust the way/angle the cart is sitting in the connector and test & re-test until it works. I have a couple games that take forever to get to work. Consequently, they hardly ever get played.

All my Super Mario World copies work flawlessy on original hardware (AV FC).

But I remembered some people who couldn't get to work certain pirates while some could on original hardware.
If you can find a good famiclone, then it could work.

Also to correct Parodius Duh:
No it doesn't change anything. Both version has the exact same board ;)
EDIT: Also the cart case doesn't matter at all. It's the importer who were putting cases to the games, not the publisher.

Also if you really can't get it to work on anything, don't put it in the trash !

Was it exposed for a long time near an electrical source, x rays or something like that?

Globs hate static electricity.

not that I know of. It's having diffrent reactions on all my famicoms my av famicom it just starts up with a frozen black and purple blocks. on my yobo clone it just starts up with a frozen black screen with 2 white strips on the side. Now on my  game joy pokefami portable clone i've got the music to play twice but the screen is just a glitchy mess of blocks and as soon as I press start it freezes up but most of the time it just loads on my pokefami with a frozen black or green screen.

Do not touch the pins, but are they dirty ? Is there something moving in the cartridge when you move it?

pins a clean as a whistle and theres nothing loose in it

I'd say let's see what's going on inside.

Just make sure to never touch any component and only the side of the board (not even pins or something). Just in case of.

How to open easily this kind of case.
Tabes are located on top and sides (2 top, 1 each side, they are attached to the front of the cart).

Take the cart and hold it as you see one side (not top). now press a bit on the backlabel part of the cart in about the middle (press only this side).
You should feel once you have unattached the tab. Do this on the other side and just pull the plastic up.
If you are unable to unattach the plastic, I can make a quick tuto with photos.
