FC Filter capacitor.

Hey, another dumb question. (I'm not an electrician!  :P)

What's the rating on the Famicom's capacitor? Mine had a 1000uf 6.3v but blew when I applied current from a genuine famicom power supply. A while ago I was instructed to order a 1000uf 12v or 25v

Is this information correct?

Yes, I'd go with 1000µF at 16 or 25V. In fact I'd step that up to 2200µF at 16 or 25V since modern capacitors are smaller than their 80s counterparts so you could probably fit one of those in there, making your Famicom a bit happier with cleaner power. ;)

That's odd the famicom pcb has just 5v....or are you using a clone?

i use low esr 3300uF 6.3V cap desoldered from PC Mo/Bo. And a huge passive cooler for 7805, don't remebmer where i stole it, maybe from old pentuim1 cpu.
