I'm sure some of you have already heard. Onlive is filing for Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors (not quite bankruptcy) and all assets are being sold to a third party. The service is to remain uninterrupted, however. What does this mean for the future of cloud gaming?

cloud gaming is the cancer of video games. I hope it is not how the future of video games will be.

OnLive is still alive? I have to say, I'm sort of impressed, though I thought OnLive died last year. :P

People are also investing too much money on the game-box "Ouya" that is as powerful as a smartphone, and hackable to anyone, which has risks if those same people will actually buy the games or just pirate them.

Not to talk about the fuck up online mode is gonna be with all the cheaters..

Quoted, because it's so true!

I actually like the concept of Onlive, using it more as a rental service. I wouldn't "buy" a full priced game, but paying $10 or so for a game that I just want to play through once like most of this gen's games is fine.

The only real problem with the service was infrastructure. For most people in the US the internet is way too slow for streaming games, and the speed isn't going up significantly anytime soon.

Y'all better get used to cloud gaming.  People said the same about home consoles and then 3D.  While I see your point, as a gamer you adapt or get left behind.

Plenty of really great retro games around so you won't run out of things to play!

I've decided if console gaming is going digital-only I'll be left with the old consoles, but not to worry, there's plenty of games I'm yet to buy, play and enjoy. ;D

I don't think it'll be digital only, but digital will play a much bigger part.
I prefer physical games but I have no problem with cloud gaming if it's going to save me money and be way more convenient.

Last night I couldn't find my copy of WarioLand, so I spnt 2 hours looking for it and now have to buy a game and wait for an auction to end.
While I like to play CIB, I wish I could have just downloaded it on the spot for £3 last night.  The 3DS for example, is great for this.
