Sonic 4: What the hell, Sega? (Finish the game now!)

Erm, everyone knows how bad the gameplay of Sonic 4 Episode I is, however, Sega sort of redeemed themselves with Sonic 4 Episode II even though the gameplay by then isn't that much better.

A Sega employee said they had no plans for Sonic 4 Episode III so just what on earth is Sega thinking, they should've cancelled Sonic 4 by Episode 1, but they didn't so now they have to release the last episode which is the 3rd, which would cover all in a single game.

By the way, I find it surprising that the iPod version of Sonic 4 Episode II is a lot faster and better than on the home consoles.

That's because the iPod has blast processing.

I agree about the iOS version being better, but what sucks is that to my knowledge, there's no way to use an actual controller with it. Instead you have touch controls, which are....well....I'll put it this way, it doesn't feel right....

They don't "have" to. By that logic, they would have had to make episode two, simply because of the title including the word "episode". I'll say it again. Sonic 4 ep. 1&2 are good games. Not sonic 3&k good, but very playable.

Then again, with the logic that they have to make a Sonic 4 Episode III, why can't we also get Shenmue III.....wait a minute.....you know something.....I think Sega is developing a habit of stopping at twos.....

They lost money on them, they can't afford to lose more.  They're going through a complete restructure as well, they've been losing money for some time.

I've never actually seen a saturn or a dreamcast (although I did find a dreamcast controller at a thrift store once)

Sega didn't even have a presence in my community.

L___E___T

Saturn started to do ok here, as did Dreamcast, but the Dreamcast again lost them a lot of money.

Actually the US Saturn did it.

*covers up Saturn* Don't let them speak like that about you. You're perfect.

lmao

But, yeah, I agree with that as well. Too much saturation did it. Sega had the Genesis, CD, 32x, Game Gear, Saturn, Nomad, and Pico out at the same time.

Also, their surprise attack did no one any favors either. Pissed off a LOT of their retailers. I STILL remember that day.

I went with my godmother(who was a BIG gamer God rest her soul) to Toys 'R' Us to pick up a couple of wrestling figures. She went to the video game section to check on something and her friend that worked at the store informed her that Sega was releasing that Saturn that day. She called bullshit until he brought it out. So, luckily having her credit card on her, she picked it up. This was an HOUR BEFORE the announcement was made. So, by the time we got back to her place(we had other errands to run as it was her day off), the store was PACKED as word got out.

It was also through her, that I saw the Saturn's TRUE potential, as she used to import for the system a LOT. So, as a pre-teen, I got to play games like X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Radiant Silvergun, and the like.

Yeah, I became a Saturn fan myself. I love my system and it gets a lot of gameplay, especially the fighters.

seems like sega was just throwing products at the wall and seeing what stuck.

I know the thread's a month old, but I just had to throw my hat in the ring on this one.  I just finished Sonic 1 on the VC, and as I was looking for what else there was to download, I noticed that the Wii only has Sonic 4 Episode 1.  They never even bothered releasing Episode 2 on the Wii, apparently because of technical constraints.  Has anyone played ep. 1 on the Wii?  Unless they seriously updated the underlying tech between episodes, I don't understand why they wouldn't port the game over.  It's really disappointing  :(

'technical constraints' means something else - it's what happened to LaMulana...
