In many games as a part of the background there is a lot of stuff written in japanese. Since I don't know japanese, I am wondering if a thread submiting several captions from games maybe could help to unveil the mystery. I know many of you know some japanese so maybe you could help.

My first doubt has to do with Street Fighter and Ryu's stage

I wonder what it says and what it has to do with the context.

The kanji mean (from top to bottom): wind, forest, fire, mountain
It's quite famous.

Oh, I thought you meant Japanese names written on Famicom carts. Every now and then I come across names written in kanji. Maybe Manuel could translate some for me? I'll have to take some photos. Some I fear might be illegible, since they were written by children 25+ years ago in fading marker.

manuel

Yeah, why not.  ;D
But better make a separate thread for that.

If you have interesting screenshots with stuff you can't read, post them!  :)

I've always wanted to know what was being said here:

All I can tell is that it starts off with a conversation between Luna & Artemis. :-\

manuel

Very quick translation:

Luna:
Our Kingdom...
The Silver Millenium.

Artemis:
It was restored due to the power of the Silver Crystal.

Queen Serenity:
Thanks to you the Dark Kingdom perished.
Now all of you live to become happy.

The first guy is asking about opinions about hosting a super small scale compo.

Basically everybody wants it.

I was always curious what that scroll says:

L___E___T

It means "One Day, One Evil".  In other words, 'do a bad deed a day'.

This is a chinese translations of the hanji, the's a chance it could mean something different in Japanese usage, but that's what the characters literally translate to.
