I had a friend over, and we knocked out Ninja Crusaders (NES) in tag-team fashion for the NA Challenge. The game is far less aggravating with the Contra-style respawning at point of death rather than restarting the level after every death that you have to suffer through in single-player mode. Sorry, Nightstar, but I'm not as hardcore as you are.

Ah it's okay. It's good to see Ninja Crusaders getting some more playtime regardless of circumstance, I think I'll play it next myself.

This evening I played a couple games, Shinobi III on Genesis (I've had better runs, but still this one wasn't bad. Died just once, and it was to Neo-Zeed), and Cocoron on Famicom. (No deaths)
So ends another chapter in the glorious legend of the Ninja... Until next time...

Heh, the only Shinobi games I can play through without deaths is Shinobi GG and Shinobi on PS2 (do play that one when you get a chance, it's brilliant gameplay, ignore the bad reviews).

The soundtracks are brilliant too!

Dizzy the Adventurer for the NA NES Challenge. I also beat the Middle Road  on Paperboy 2, but I'll still need to beat Hard Way to complete the game for the challenge.

You can no-death Shinobi PS2? I've yet to play that game but I've heard it's brutally difficult so much respect for that.

I just got done playing through a couple Famicom games, first off I played Ninja Crusaders Ryuga as I previously foretold of... I actually played it through twice, the rust was real my first time around, so I decided to do it again, this time giving it a proper no-death run. And then I played Ninja Ryukenden III, I used to consider this my favorite game of the trilogy but I gotta admit I like the second installment better overall.

Next I'm going to play Super Ninja Kun on Super Famicom. It's been a very ninja past couple days for me. Even on Cocoron yesterday, I created and played a ninja-themed character for most the game.
So ends another chapter in the glorious legend of the Ninja... Until next time...

Tonight I beat Paperboy 2 for the second time, and Little Samson for the first time. Two more credits for the NA challenge!

Go Go Ackman 2 on Super Famicom. Sadly, I had to use a couple continues. I'm not so good at this game, but I love it anyway.

I can only no-death run Shinobi on easy straight through mind.  To be honest you can blaze it with Joe, just takes longer.  You can race through with Moritsune but it's easier to make a mistake and have to restart.  The game's only hard on Hard, then very hard on Super Hard.  There's a challenge waiting for you there - but you'll have no trouble with the game once you get into it I'm sure.

Congrats on finishing Dino City so quickly as well!  I don't have the patience! :)

How do the credits work and are there prizes?  Or is it all just for fun, like gold stars at school? :)

Thanks! Though I'd recommend you give it another shot, I beat it a couple times since then, actually, It's not so difficult aside from a few points where you have to creatively utilize your human character, those are tricky the first time around.

And I actually just beat Go Go Ackman 2 again, this time no continues were used... my first time achieving that for this game, although, I was down to my last life upon completion. Have you ever played any of the GGA games on Super Famicom? Or has anyone else here, for that matter?

I beat The Terminator (NES) for the NA challenge. It's my second time beating the game.

LET,

Nah, there's no prizes. We're just doing it for bragging rights. I'm currently in third place (out of around 50 members participating), so that's pretty exciting.

They're using a new scoring system this year. Each of the beatable games is assigned a value between one and ten, with the scores determined by how quickly a game has been beaten in previous versions of the challenge. For instance, I got one point for beating Super Mario Bros, because it's always one of the first to fall. And Paperboy 2 was worth ten, because it's usually one of the last (if it falls at all...). It's a novel system that bypasses the subjective difficulty of any given game, and one that fairly accurately rewards people for tackling longer, tougher, or more boring games.

I beat Dr. Chaos for the first time in at least 15 years today. The NA challenge was a nice excuse to pop in what was one of my first ten NES games. I also beat Play Action Football last night, with Houston for the first time.

I also knocked out Renegade for the first time in about 10-15 years as well. I had to fight that final boss probably a dozen times before I beat him. There are few things cheaper or more aggravating than a boss with a gun in a beat 'em up game. In between my many attempts at that today, I also beat Cobra Command and Operation Wolf. Having done Dr. Chaos this morning, that gave me four more credits for the NA challenge. I'm going to be in second place when the standings are next updated!

Dig Dug II (NES). A first-time conquest, and another credit for the NA challenge!

Last night, I also won a tournament of Base Wars and also looped Road Runner and grabbed the high score. The NA challenge has become my favorite addiction.

Tonight, I beat Adventures of Gilligan's Island (NES) for the first time. Five more points for me in the NA challenge. I also beat Wario's Woods again a couple of days ago. It only took me two days this year. Clearly my skills have been maintained after beating it last year.

Protoman

Choujin Sentai Jetman on Famicom. Once I figured out the boss fights, the game was pretty easy really, and only 6 stages.

Title screen. A + B + Start. Very Hard. Now, you may begin the real game.

How does that change the difficulty?  Less health?  More enemy damage?
