Just a quick question for those of you who may have manuals for these games - I know most older Nintendo games with save features have a sort of "button shortcut" to skip to the continue/save screen so you don't have to murder your character every time you want to quit.

Does anyone know what these shortcuts might be for Doki Doki Panic and Palutena no Kagami? (For the former I messed around with the 2P controller a bit and discovered a button combo that kills my character...but that doesn't exactly solve my problem  :-[ )

Could you tell us what that combination is?

As for your question we have discussed this topic before (http://www.famicomworld.com/forum/index.php?topic=10227.0) and have searched the manuals as well as Japanese BBS sites. From those results it seems that there's no way beside killing yourself in Paluthena (unlike Metroid and Zelda). However we found out that after Gameover in Paluthena you can choose SAVE instead of CONTINUE, and by doing that and then reloading the game from the title screen, it doesn't count as a continue. This is useful to get the best ending (you can't use any continues to get the best ending).

We didn't search as much for doki doki but from what I can see in the manual there's no way to save without first dying in that game either.

Thanks! I did search around a bit for a thread like that but I must have just not used the right search terms.  :blinky:

I'll check on the button combo tonight when I play Doki Doki some more, but IIRC it's very similar to the "save" codes in games like Metroid and Zelda, where you input a direction on the d-pad + A or B.
