This may seem like a dumb question to ask in here, but what is the SD Station actually for?  :-[

i think it was for listening to the game through headphones instead of the t.v. so that way other people wouldnt have to hear you play i might be wrong though

As you can see it also has a recording feature. I heard it can be used instead of the Family BASIC Keyboard to save to a tape recorder (or any device with a Line-in port, like a computer sound card or MP3 player).
Games that support tape saving: http://www.famicomworld.com/forum/index.php?topic=5017.0.

You Both are correct. The Famicom recorder can be hooked up, so is the headphone. I got a SD station Boxed, and works fine with a headphone :)
I always downshift near a hybrid, so they can hear me hurt the environment...

P

But have you tried saving your tracks in Excitebike or other game that supports saving to tape?

iStreet

I did not try the tape recorder yet. I do not the tape recorder yet. Just the SD station with the headphone boxed :) Just have to find a boxed famicom data recorder for a good price :)

Those Nintendo branded data recorders are super expensive, I just use a generic tape recorder. I can't get saving to my computer via the sound card work though. :(

Bob-Bob

So an ordinary tape recorder can be used on the Famicom?  :o

P

Yup that's what I've been saying all this time. The Nintendo Data Recorder IS just an ordinary tape recorder that takes a normal 3.5mm plug for recording. You can use basically any device that can record sound through a Line-in port.
