I was actually inspired a week ago to restore my old original Gameboy back to perfect functionality! :)

The birthday was 2 days ago but I forgot to post then, so here's a belated birthday to the handheld that really started the craze.

Edit The light is the second best Gameboy peripheral behind the link cable, it's the Nuby Game Light! The only good light designed for a original Gameboy, and highly collectable. (I own two of them.)

I completely missed it!  ;D Happy belated birthday, Game Boy.

I totally remember the Nuby light! It really was a must-have accessory. I think I still have my gameboy and maybe even the light...somewhere.

Now I feel kind of old... I was 10 the year the GB came out.  :-[

Happy Birthday, GB!  ;D

Oh yes, with the Nuby it removed glare and can light up cleanly especially well at night. :) I used to play my Game in my room during pitch black night under my covers when I was very young. My parents never noticed. :)

I didn't get a Gameboy when they came out. I finally got a GB Color a few years later, so the light peripheral I used the most was that LED on a bendy stick.

The only original GB peripheral I have is one of these... Ridiculous things.

Happy birthday, you blurry SOB.

I missed out on this,

Well game boy was my first console. Actually bouhgt in Japan by my father. Also had Super Mario Land from Japan.

I Still enjoy Game Boy a lot. :D

Hell to the yes. Gameboy was my second game system after NES. I still own it too, although I have lost my games; Super Mario Land, Kwirk and Shadowgate Classic. And I don't play my Gameboy anymore because the screen blur making playing the games very hard... It's weird how I didn't have a problem with it until I started playing on a GBC.

P

Yeah it was my second console too, and the first one I bought for my own money.

I think the screen blur must have gotten worse by the years so it's not only because we are used to GBC and GBA.

Dug mine out of the shed recently and added a nice backlight to it (makes a world of difference). I still remember waiting in line to get one and the joy of playing tetris for months :P. Best handheld ever despite needing the power of two suns to see whats actually happening on the screen.

That gameboy does not look all that portable anymore with that stuff on... IT WOULD BE TOO BIG FOR HANDS.

I have one of these too but those speakers on the side always really bothered me.  They look, disturbing.

大事なのは、オチに至るまでの積み重ねなのです。

P

How do you use it though? It looks too thick to be used as a pad, and the joystick looks too small to be used as an arcade stick.

My Gameboy's display is a bit faded and it's getting hard to see what's going on, on the screen. Even harder than before I mean.

Say it isn't so!!! That screen is hard to see at the best of times.
