In my last thread I asked you about RPG and action-adventure tips and got some nice input, thanks guys.
Now I'd like to know if you can recommend other stuff, like platformers.
I don't like games involving war, 1st person shooting, sports and racing, so please no MGS or Resident Evil or Gran Turismo.

Some games I already have and/or like:
Jak and Daxter
Kao the Kangaroo Round 2
Rayman 2,3
Katamari Damacy
Naruto Narutimett Hero 2,3
Ico
Sega Mega Drive Collection
Futurama
Super Monkey Ball Deluxe

I'm looking forward to your tips.
Thanks in advance. :)

Probably one of the new Prince of Persia games.

I still have memories of the old, original Price of Persia. We had that on a school's computer when I remember right... One false step and *WHAM*. ;D Nice memories.
I have a demo of "Sands of Time" (Japanese version). I couldn't get into that (don't know why), but maybe that was because it was only a demo. ???

UglyJoe

Shadow of the Colossus - have fun climbing large creatures and ramming your sword into their head  ;D

Castlevania: Lament of Innocence - A fun whip-em-up, if not a bit repetitive.  It was supposed to go back to the feel of older castlevania games, and I guess it kinda does.  Plus, it's bound to be dirt cheap by now.

Dirt-cheap... that's my most favourite keyword in connection with games. ;D

I heard lots of good stuff about Shadow of the Colossus. Maybe I'll look for that.
Thanks.

Hey guys,

I have a Slim PSTwo and a series of PSX and a few PS2 games with scraches that no longer play correcty. I've been looking for solutions, and after talking to a few personal friends and gathering info online, I've concluded my best option is to get a modchip so I can play expendable burnt backups.

Looking into modchips, I've bought one that's called DMS4 EZI S.E. Lite Solderless Mod Chip. The one also comes with a modified PSTwo Case to accomidate the larger frame.

Its here:
http://www.consolesource.com/ecomm/catalog/DMS4-EZI-SE-Lite-Solderless-Mod-Chip-w-PSTwo-Case-p-2509.html

It'll be a few days for it to arrive, so in the meantime I want to learn as much as I can about the mochip process.  I'm hoping some of you guys can answer some questions I have regarding it.

1. How do Solderless Mod chips work? The Instillation file on the site seems to suggest that it's a sort of adhesive metal. Can someone explain this in greater detail?

2. Any opinions on this particular modchip? I was considering getting the PRO model, but all that has is flash memory for homebrew, which I'm not going to get involved with.

3. I bought my PS2 about a year or so ago. My PS2's serial is SCPH-75001. I beleive I have a V14 PS2. Is this correct?

4. Will the modchip effect the lifespan of my PS2 in the same manner the magicswap would? The reason I'm going this way is because have told me that the magicswap saps the life of the system by making it work harder than it should.

5. In general, any recommended sites to read up on before attempting to do the mod? I checked youtube, and to my surprise there isn't any video tutorials on Ps2 mod chips. Any good reads with lots of pictures to help as a guide would be much appricated.

I'm not an avocite for pirating games. The reason for the mod chip is to play the games I already own but can't play due to old discs in bad condition. Thanks everyone!

all I can say about non soldering modchips is that they are not as good as the solder ones. Believe me I tried one similar to the one that you bought and it only ended breaking my ps2 after a couple of months. Unless the problems have been fixed, my old non soldering modchip couldn't run any video of ps2 without skipping. I highly suggest soldering a modchip because of my horrible experience but there might be others that may disagree with me.

I don't even understand how the solderless chips work. What keeps the chip togther with the PS2 motherboard?

It doesn't really do much. You switch the top board with one that you can open the dvd drive without having to reset the ps2 and you have to use a boot disc then switch discs and so on.

Wow, what a cruddy method.

I don't think that's how it works.

Visit here: http://www.consolesource.com/ecomm/catalog/DMS4-EZI-SE-Lite-Solderless-Mod-Chip-w-PSTwo-Case-p-2509.html

Find the Installation Manual pdf.

Based on that, can I get some thoughts?
