I have added HTTPS / TLS support to the famicomworld.com domain.  I still have some kinks to work out, but as long as you use:

https://www.famicomworld.com/forum/

it seems to work.  Do not leave out the www or else some items will not load.  I'll try to fix that particular issue.

If you start using the https version, you'll have to login again since the forum's cookie will treat the http vs https as different sites.

tl;dr

Encryption good, use https.  Bugs bad, let me know if things aren't working.

I think I have the bugs fixed now.  It will pretty much force you to use https now, since all of the various links on the forum will use it instead by default.

Without "www" forum does not remember that I am loged it (cookie problems?)

UglyJoe

Yeah, cookie thing.  I'll see what I can do about that.

In the meantime, though, almost every link in the forum will prepend the "www" for you, so if you end up in that state you can just click on a link and you're logged in again ;D

krzy

Just please make that after going to famicomworld.com and clicking `FORUM`, it redirects to `www.famicomworld.com/forum`, not `famicomworld.com/forum`.

UglyJoe

Sure thing.  The link from the main page should include the www now.

I think this may have introduced a bug on the 'regular' site - my login cookies are not being saved and I have to keep logging in every other day, could that be because of the update?

I always click 'keep me logged in forever' and have not had this issue so while I don't know about the technicalities, I wondered if the two changes were connected..

I will use the HTTPS version of the site from here on though, and while it might be a moot point I wanted to mention it case it affected others.

You log in to the main site?  Wow.

Yeah, there's probably some hiccups with the main site, as well.  Most of the articles looked fine, so I didn't spend a time looking into it (yet).

Sorry - when I say regular site - I thought there was a non HTTPS version.  I didn't decide to use HTTPS (I thought it was optional) but turns out I was already doing so.

I think the bug might be that when I click always stay logged in' checkbox, the number of minutes stays at 60 rather than increasing automatically, like it used to?

So if I go on FW for a half hour one day then come back the next - it'll look like I've been logged out.  I can't tell at this stage, I'll watch it closely from now.

Ah.  Yeah, I had planned to make it optional (http or https), but in order to get the forum to work properly it pretty much has to be https now.

Just logged in again - it's def sticking to 60 minutes for some reason, it doesn't change automatically anymore.

I manually changed it to 9999 (maximum I could) and unchecked the 'always stay logged in' box.

Hope this is helpful, I'm not whining about it or anything like that, just to mention!

OK that doesn't work either, I'm getting logged out every time now.  Who knows.
