Yeah I bought  Gameboy SP NES edition about six months ago. Since the day I got it, the light doesn't turn all the way up to light up the game correctly. Can anyone help me out on how to fix this or should I just buy another one. The only reason I bought this one is because it looks really kewl(NES edition!) Thanks in advance!

What do you mean it doesn't turn all the way up?

There are two kinds of SPs, the earlier ones what don't light up as bright, and the Plus kind, which get more bright.

FamicomFreak

Damn then I must have the first series.....the NES Gameboy SP came out later though so I don't think it would be like this...man this sucks I'm going to look for the lighter one!

there is a sagnifigent difference in brightness between the two GBA SP models. Ones made 2003-2004 were the first Nintendo handhelds in the US to feature a light, and it was actually a frontlight, meaning that an illumination methoid was provided from in front of the LCD. Frontlights are not as bright as backlights, which is what monitors, TVs and most cellphones are. The NES Classic SP was made in 2003 and is a front-lit model.

In 2005, after the release of the DS and actually co-insiding with the GBA Micro, Nintendo used the same LCD technology in the Micro on the SP and made a new, brighter version. The new model was identical excapt that unlike the 2003 model, you cannot turn the backlighting off. Pressing the light button on this model provides an even brighter screen that defult, about equivelent to the DS Lite's third brightness setting. Of course, this drains the battery like mad and its never nessesary as the backlit screen is already twice as bright as the frontlit screen anyway.

So in summery, the special edition SPs of any sort are all frontlit models. This includes, the Pokemon, Zelda, Mario, NES, Famicom, and whatever else you can think of SPs. The brighter ones came in standard colors like silver, blue, red, black etc.

There are stickers covering a screw which prevent people from opening the console, isn't there?

Then if you peel it VERY gently you can get the screw(s) out without damaging it. And you can stick it to some glossy sticker paper to maintain its stickiness & shape while you do the transplant. My father is a graphic artist and he's an expert on removing warranty seals without damaging them ;D. He used to do that to our home computer to clean & upgrade it without voiding the warranty.

No, not possible.

You can't just touch something and make it brighter.

Do you have a Triwing?

@133MHz: Without visibly voiding the warranty.  :D :P
