How difficult are the Super Famicom RPGs to learn from?  Somewhere between Famicom and Saturn stuff?  I'm going to be heading by Hard-Off tomorrow and the SF stuff is usually pretty cheap.  I could probably grab a system and a few games for next to nothing.  If Mother 2 isn't too difficult to afford I wouldn't mind going that route.  Still, the 8bit system has a lot of charm.    Decisions, decisions...

On the Super Famicom, it seems the level of kanji implemented depended on the game. Maybe having to do with the intended age range, or the technical requirements of the individual game. Some games are presented entirely in kana, others going full fledged kanji (or at least using the jouyou kanji). Sometimes it's just... random. I've been playing Sailormoon: Another Story, and their kanji use is all over the place. Simple words like にほん are written in kana like that, but then you'll run across 時空 (jikuu/time-space), or this frequent one: 幻の銀水晶 (maboroshi no ginzuishou, Sailor Moon's mystical silver crystal). So, this game's target audience can't write the name of the country they (presumably) live in, but they can pick up on the kanji for relativistic concepts like time-space?
