Jaleco published a bunch of Famicom games, so I thought this would be relevant:

Yeah, that's pretty massive fail.

Not quite:

QuoteJaleco has been struggling for the past decade, and Jaleco Holdings was created in 2006 with Jaleco spun off into a separate entity. GAME YAROU purchased Jaleco for ¥1 (US$0.01) -- but agreed to shoulder ¥700,000,000 ($7.736 million) of Jaleco Holding's ¥16,000,000,000 ($17.68 million) loan.

They sold their gaming division in order to help pay off their loan and keep the rest of their company in business.

I loved Jaleco games, they were great. Its sad that they had 7.8 Million dollars of debt.

PatMan33

Yes, that is one of the things that many people tend to overlook. Midway went for about $100,000 recently and there were people making remarks about the price. What they overlooked was that along with the name, that $100,000 also netted you $70,000,000 in debt! ;)

Hooray!

FamicomFreak

Ouch so sad to see that happened. Jaleco did some great games. Best of luck to the new holders!

Yeah I know it was just all about the debt, but the headline (and only looking at the sale at face value) is pretty hilarious.  ;D

So sad... Young Indiana Jones Chronicles is an awesome game, and one of the three I had when I was a kid (luckily I got another one eventually  ;D)

Jedi Master Baiter

Last Ninja - funny, but playable, game

Oh yeah, Hoops :P Playing as a big guy getting pushed by a little twirt. ;D

What's nice with most Jaleco Famicom games is that they have info on how to play on the back of the carts. That's one smart idea I think.

nintendodork

Jaleco made that Mighty Beanz GBA puzzle game...

Sucky game, but the Beanz are selling for $20 :D
