/\  And while it may not matter for many Famicom games (can't read Japanese), often times these 8-bit games expect you to have the manual in front of you to even know what to do.

Actually, even Famicom/NES games have some form of in-game help sometimes.  Now, manuals with the Atari 2600 is a must.

Depends on the game. People could probably get by in: Pitfall, Videoolympics, Defender, Space Invaders, Breakout, Super Breakout, Combat, Missile Command, and Hangman.

Thanks to my parents, I still have the manual for some of these and drawn out maps.
Now you're playing with Power

hey guys how many carts, disks and pirates are there, would there be more titles than the atari 2600
Yes, there are over 1,000 Famicom games, and I think there are around 130 FDS games.  Don't cite me on that, because I'm not 100% sure, but the Famicom did have more games than the 2600

Wow so collecting all the famicom games would be the greatest collecting feat in the hobbie of collecting video games, collecting for the fds looks like an achievable goal but then i have no idea about rareity of fds games collecting all the carts seems a daunting task especialy for a westerner

Not exactly. The Famicom had more games, but it would still be harder to collect every 2600 game. In '82-'83, the 2600 was dying a painful death from third-party-game cancer. In a desperate attempt to save themselves, the Atari people decided to publish any and every lousy game that was pitched to them. Tons of titles were cranked out at the same time, resulting in low production runs. The sales were lousy, so production stopped early and millions of unsold games were destroyed. This means that there are more than a few 2600 titles of which less than a thousand copies are known to exist. combine those with the competition carts, Atari Club special orders, personalized games, and carts that came out of vending machines at K-Mart and that is the greatest collecting feat of all time.

TL;DR:
Ever heard of Air Raid? There's three.

I think I would only collect all the games I was to play as well but there are times when I see the label of some games and I buy them just to try them out. I would at least like a Famicom exclusive collection with some of the butchered Famicom games which means the games that had their contents changed dramatically.  awaaaaaaa

I think the only problem (for me) with a complete collection is the itch to collect more would soon return. Then it'd branch off onto other systems or even pirate stuff.

The Super Famicom has more games.
PS and PS2 have even more.

Nooo way.  The Game Boy doesn't have over 1,000 games.  Maybe if you combine all the GB, GBC, GBA, and DS titles together (Maybe even minus the DS)...but not just one alone.

If you're not limiting it to a specific region, there are over three thousand DS games.

nintendodork

That would sort of be like making the NES and Famicom into one category...I don't think it's the same.

Gameboy (incl. Gameboy Color) had 1236 official games in Japan.
