Hey all

I recently found my old Famicom system in some closet, haven't tested it in years, so I plugged it in and to my surprise it still worked. I started searching around for some information about it, hardware specs and whatnot. Also searched for pictures of the system and as expected found lots... but none like mine. Every famicom i've come across googleing has been white/red... mine is white/green and I can't seem to find any information about it beeing available in different color schemes?

I believe the system was bought in Taiwan, probably around 1986. Is this a unofficial / pirate version of the console itself? Or is this some one of a kind super special famicom that i can ebay for millions? ;D Any info would be appriciated. Thanks :)

famiac

That is a famiclone so its not a real famicom and you cannot sell it for millions!

Its a famiclone with the Family Computer logo plate reproduced in green.

I would value that at around 25$, if you cleaned it with rubbing alcohol and repaired the controllers. Otherwise, its prolly about 15$.

Can you plug the zapper in the pic into the front of the famiclone?

MS-DOS4

That unit is in some serious need of TLC. If you plan to sell it, let me know because I want to repair that poor thing.

I only buy/use official systems, but I'm really digging this clone with that awesome color scheme. ;D

manuel

Yes, the color scheme is very nice.

Thanks for the replies!
I figured it would be a clone, I just find it annoying that it seems impossible to find some info on it anywhere :P

It could sure use some TLC, apart from stickers and ink and dirt, the controllers are really unresponsive, you've got to press the buttons really hard to make it register. I'll probably open them up too see if there's some obvious reason, failing that, does anyone know if there's some 3rd party replacements or even a seperate controller to plug in the front connector?

Yeah, afaik the only game on those multicarts that uses it is Duck Hunt. F**king dog :D

NintendoKing

If it takes hard presses to make the buttons work,
the rubber pads are likely worn out.

manuel

Or they are just bad controllers. Or both.

A lot of 3rd party controllers don't have good buttons to begin with.

Hey, if you ever think of selling this, PM me. ;D

Hamburglar

First thing you should try is clean the inside of the controllers, the rubber pads and pcb, it could just be that they are dirty.
I would clean this up and repair the pads, also I'm pretty sure this is not a NOAC clone, which makes it more attractive to buyers. (if you plan to sell it)

Ah I saw that famiclone in Peru except it had mario 2 art in the front of it. I wanted to buy it but when they tried it out, it didn't worked. I told the vendor to lower the price but she didn't wanted even though it didn't work! Oh well..

Hi guys,

I have the same problem with my famicom ............ its not white at all instead its yellow, ish in colour ......

Plate states "FF    Family Computer   Nintendo"

Is this a famiclone?

Tks for your advice

manuel

From the description alone I'd say it's a legit Famicom.
The yellowish color can be explained by the yellowing of the white plastic, which happens a lot with old electronics.
