Yeah no joke, Amazon is selling new Dreamcasts for $92.98  :o. I'm pretty shocked by this, I guess they found some lying around a warehouse and decided to sell them...10 years after its release. If they weren't so expensive I'd buy one just for the hell of it.

Reminds me of ThinkGeek when they sold new ones for $100.

Where the hell is this magical warehouse of Dreamcasts, and how long will it take to get there from Iowa?!

My bro and I bought our dreamcast at a pawn shop for 75 bucks I think.  120 total with 2 controllers, 1 vmu and 2 games.

I bought mine seven or eight years ago from an EB Games for $35 bucks pre-owned.

Now, one would think that that was for just the system but no, I got three controllers, the cables, and a VMU. The system alone back then was only $10 since they were tripping over them and didn't have a clue about what to do with them.

It's just a shame that it came time to liquidate all of the retro game stuff which got phased out in favor on current gen stuff, all of the unsold stuff got destroyed or burned or something like that if memory serves.

I got one of my 3 or 4 Dreamcasts (stopped counting  :D) for around 10$. It was and still is like new!

I always see at least 2 or 3 of these at Goodwill when I go. Always for around $15-25, depending if there are controllers and a few games with them. I've never been compelled to buy one, though.

Not always. Prices vary heavily. In one store you can find one for 10$ and in the next store one is 60$. The differences are that big.

MarioMania

I got mine..for like $6.99 at goodwill..another time it was like $20..and that was at the same Goodwill

I got mine at a Gamestop a few years ago for like 10.00 and it's the model 1 so you can use homebrew on it without the Mirosoft anti-virus protection they used on the later models. Don't Dreamcasts burn out after a set number of play-hours?

nintendodork

I've never heard of them burning out after a set amount of time, but whatever happens, it's always fixable.  Even if that was true, it's not like the entire motherboard would just fry because of nothing.

I just recently got a green dreamcast for 29.95 at the local thrift store not too long ago. The console came with four controllers, four VMUs, and extra extension cables for the controllers just incase you want to play games from the bathroom. It also came with the usual cables to make the dreamcast work. I have seen them cheaper but I just had to have that green dreamcast. Usually the flea market has them ranging from 5-15 bucks. You can always talk them down on the price.

Yeah, that's what I thought. My brother told me that but it didn't quite make sense.

ah to answer that question about the burning. I left my Dreamcast on for two days without me realizing until one night I turned the lights off the living room and saw the orange light on. Then I flashback to a couple of days when I just left the controller and turn the TV off(I was really tired). Anyways, I sat on the couch and turned the TV on and decided to play some MVC2 which was the game on the console. Har har har I ended up playing until 5am and it was like 2am. The console seems fine.

it's pretty sweet, if anyone wants to know how and where to burn games, I'm all there.

@ Fami Freak, coincidentally it's 5 am right now, caught a bad cold last night and now I woke up.  I can't get back to sleep... thinking of playing on the DC now...

It's great for burning though, I've found stuff like a disc with the original PC Dooms, Half Life Gold, Ps1 games... it's great.  There is a hell of a lot of emulators too, I believe theres ones on the Famicom & SFam for all you fans here, I'll look tomorrow... actually I guess it is tomorrow already :p.  I'll look later.
