I guess I am wondering if you had the Hong Kong PAL Famicom that was mentioned above could you run the NTSC famicom version of mtpo at 50hz (as opposed to the usual 60hz) on it with a PAL or NTSC television?

Exactly. But why would you want to slow down the game escapes me. Pretty much any TV in Europe made in the last century supports 60 Hz.

I would not want to do this personally. If someone wanted to slow down the game they may do so because it allows you to do certain things. For instance, certain punches can be countered at 50hz but not at 60hz. Things like this can allow for much faster times on certain fighters.

So you are probably wondering why someone would go to all this trouble, why not just play on the PAL system with a PAL game at 50hz!?! Well there are reasons that someone might want it to be perceived that they played on an NTSC cart. But no need to get into that here.

Thank you to everyone who has posted in this thread, you have provided very useful information I would not have found elsewhere. Now one final question. Does anyone have MTPO for Famicom that is willing to take 5 - 10 minutes to help me test something. You do not need the whacky setup I have been asking about, just a normal NTSC Famicom and NTSC MTPO.

If you're trying to somehow get a faster time in some sort of competition, they generally don't allow the use of PAL games/systems due to this problem.  If you're trying to lie about this, then please know that I personally do not support what you're trying to do.

However, what is it that you need to be done?  Whatever it is, the same thing will happen on an NTSC NES with NTSC MTPO.

I am not trying to do this, nor would I as I stated in my previous post. But that does not mean other people would not do so. I am simply trying to confirm information and pass it on to a governing body so that they may be made aware of any possible foul play. I prefer not to go into detail on the forum but if anyone is really that interested in what this is about I do not mind telling them in a PM. And if anyone volunteered to help me test this out for 5 - 10 minutes I would definitely share everything that this is in regards to.

As for whether the same thing will happen on Famicom that happens on NES, that is very likely true. I simply want to confirm that it is indeed true and it would take a very small amount of time to do so. I do not own a Famicom nor could I afford to purchase one along with mtpo for it to verify this myself which is why I am here asking for help.

I had MTPO at one time but I just sold it.  I can assure you that the same thing will happen whether I use a the Famicom version of MTPO or the NES version with an adapter.

Darn...Well does anyone else have a copy that is willing to try a simple test for me?
