Wait, didn't you just complain about graphics not being important in the 3DS thread?  Now you're saying an HD remake of SMB would be a "definite buy", even though it'd be the exact same game?

That's different. ;D

In this case they have absolutely no improvements and they're just dropping them in without any upgrades, as in if it was in HD that would be much better.

It's the exact game but in 1080p the graphics would be smoother and better on an HDTV.

I play NES (Burai Fighter) on my Full HDTV LG 34" and looks pretty good, I imagined the image would be horrible but that wasn't the case. PS2 looks awful on an HDTV but not an NES? That's weird.

It's really unfair it had no improvements at all, I'm really disappointed with Nintendo. Maybe next console-gen I'll get to see Super Mario Bros (NES) remastered in Full HD (1080p).

Graphics don't matter generally, but since they're re-releasing it matters.

It probably has more to do with your specific type of HDTV.

What kind of TV is your HDTV? LCD, plasma, DLP...? 60Hz, 120Hz, 240Hz?

It's an HDTV FullHD LCD 60Hz, I f#cking love playing games on it, especially GTA IV (Brucie is always worked up, lol)!

But about Super Mario that's all I have to say, better luck next time, Nintendo!

I'm surprised the slow refresh rate and resultant choppy images don't bother you with an LCD. They drive me nuts, but a lot of people don't notice it.

FamicomRetroGamer

I only noticed it on Assassin's Creed I and that's it.

It doesn't bother me at all.

Well, it's been confirmed for the US and I'm glad. I can't say that I'm impressed with the tracklisting on the soundtrack, but I'm glad Nintendo actually is releasing something old in the exact way it was intended (why they don't do this with Star Fox 2, but as a SNES cart I don't know). I don't have money otherwise I'd get a copy, maybe two.

Because Nintendo has never done that for any game.  On any system.  Ever.

Cool that it's coming out in the U.S though!
I like to glitch old VHS tapes and turn them into visuals for live music events. Check out what I'm working on - www.instagram.com/tylerisneat

After reading through many Iwata Asks and poking around Mario's 25th anniversary website in japanese and english, I found something interesting about 2 of the bundles.

The Wii bundle, I was first in line at my Gamestop to get one... woohoo. My brother had his wii, so my fiance and I got this one so we have it when we eventually have our own place. It's very nice and shiny and junk. I give a pretty good review on Amazon for it, I'm Robert Ernst there. One complaint that I have though is that the special version of Mario with "25" blocks is not on it.... still a great bundle for first wii owners.

The All Stars pack, I will be getting it for xmas thanks to my brother. We all know the game is just an SNES port. I do like the idea of getting this cd even if the track list is not all that great, but consider this. The tracks on this cd were all picked by Koji Kondo, in the Iwata Ask interview for the game, Iwata called it "Best of Koji Kondo"... with respect to Mario of course. The book seems great too, art sketches and interviews galore.
Now you're playing with Power

I pre-ordered mine of Amazon. For 29 bucks you can't complain even if Nintendo should have done better in honor of Super Mario's 25+ years of gaming..  ::)

Hmmmm - a lot of HD being thrown around, considering the Wii doesn't have the option for HD...

Apparently the European bundle comes with Donkey Kong.  What's cool, though, is that they added the missing "cement factory" level that was not in the original release (but was in the arcade version)!

Also, slow PAL music is slow ;D

It may have been a prototype version, considering the fact that Nintendo isn't likely to have people who know 6502 nowadays to add the missing level...

Nintendo did.
